I've attached a text file which contains a list of all original n-gage files which comes with it when you first bought it.
For those of you who want to "clean-up" your device and remove all files which apps leave behind even after uninstall... please review the attached file very carefully.. THESE ARE FILES WHICH SHOULDN'T BE DELETED OR YOUR N-GAGE WILL NO LONGER WORK. Other files not listed however can be safely deleted.
With only the listed files present on your phone, it's like getting a "reformat" and a fresh operating system, free of clutters.
These files are applicable for firmware v3.30. If you have a firmware newer than this, I cannot guarantee if this will work since some new files maybe added to the new version. So check your firmware first.
Disclaimer: Although I have tested this method myself and it worked flawlessly on my n-gage, I take no responsibility if you accidentally deleted/altered any files which might be critical to the Symbian OS. You will be doing this at your own risk.

thanx dude
but warning if u want a format its better to take it to the nearest ncs for the safty of ur device😊
you can always hot restart the thing with a certain code and presto , like new... very easy to do.
There is certainly no code to do this. I've talked to to the service personnel of nokia and they are really reformatting all the drives on the n-gage and then re-install a fresh copy of the OS. One thing I dont know is how they do it without opening the phone! They told me they are using some swiping thingy.... it's not really clear coz the service guy doesn't speak much english.... but the whole process just takes about 10mins....
I hope Nokia provides the apparatus and the Symbian OS backup to consumers -- just like having a handy Windows Installer. Going to a service center when you messed-up your phone sucks... especially if it's pretty far from where you live.
DireStrife21,there is a code, you can hard reset any Series 60 device(Probably any Nokia device) by typing *#7370# on the main screen. And don't tell me that it doesn work, because i've tried it on loads of devices and it does work.
The hard reset is working now on my phone.... but before the upgrade it really isn't. This should be easy now.
can anyone tell me how to install .jar files on my n-gage so that the shortcut to the program appear in the menu. wen i install these programs it comes in "Applications manger" toot. but it takes a long time to get the programs in the manager and for opening them from there .
Can't be done. The feature that Java apps appear in the main menu like "native" S60/Symbian programs was added (or changed from previous behaviour) in S60 2.0 (2nd Edition), but the N-Gage cannot be upgraded from S60 1.2 to 2.0 (or later).
wen u open a jar file using winrar many files and folders can be seen . I read in one help file with a game that u can install the game by copyin all of these files to some sub folder in system folder. Is it possible?
Is there any software to browse files in the system folders using a bluetooth connection from PC .
plz tell me how to backup contacts from contact.cdb. i copied this file from the system folder b4 i did a *#7370# format . wen i copied the file back an error is shown.
