big bug with symbian or possibly nokia HELP!

I have a very strange problem with my Nokia Communicator 9120.

When i get an incoming call my 9210 will intermittantly switch itself off when i press the answer key (green phone symbol). It will turn itself back on again and the clock will reset to 00:00 (and not change). It doesn't ask for my PIN number but registers back on the network anyway.

Having some experience with the technologies behind Nokia phones i put this down to some kind of battery problem as when you answer a call the level of power required greatly increases, maybe it was a power problem.

Problem is the fault is intermittant and 20% of the time it WONT happen. The rest of the time it will.

It also needs to be noted that it never has problems when i make calls, only incoming. Also my phone's memory is pretty much full to capacity (i currently have no memory card installed)

So now i believe it's a software problem. But would this be with Symbian or the nokia software that runs the phone part of the 9210???

As far as i could find out there is no software upgrade (patches or bug-fixes). I maybe wrong.

So any ideas? Any avenues i should go down in order to fix this? Maybe there is internal software that a service centre maybe able to upgrade and that we cant via the serial PC lead and the internet.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

I've had similar happen (I.e. rebooting, but that's been about twice in a year and not as extreme as you describe). I doubt the storage memory on the device would cause this problem. My best bet is to ring up the service centre see what ideas they have, also are you running the latest firmware, if not see if an upgrade helps.

can i upgrade the firmware or is this a job for a service centre only? I cant seem to find it anywhere online.

This is a service center only job, and the only service centre in the UK is Communicaid in Cambridge (the exact details escape me but a search on the forum for Communicaid should find the phone number).

cool. i can get it done there for free hopefully. i have contacts moohooharhar 😉

cheers for your help. Let's hope it works!
