Bluetooth dongle and Nokia 3650

Hi all

Wondering if anyone can help me:
i got a USB bluetooth dongle off ebay and i want to use it with my Nokia 3650,
the thing is i have installed the software but i cant tell if the dongle is recognised ,or how my phone can be "connected" or recognised, the Nokia guide is no good as it doesnt tell me what com port i should select (what com-port is USB?)

Basically what should i do for the very basics of setting it up,apart from putting it in the USB port i know nothing.

anyway thanks all any help appreciated.

It seems its my PC that wont install the dongle, it just finds 3 USB COMPSITE DEVICES and NO drivers work at all... I wonder if its as im on Win98 SE?

can anyone help?

I know this isn't much help but I've had no problems getting my TDK USB bluetooth dongle to work on Win 98SE. So I'd dout it's that.

No it helps thanks,i think mine is some cheap make as i won it on ebay and it had no packaging.. it is made in taiwan..
Is there anyway to tell if this device is working at all?.. It recognises a USB compsite device like i said, when i put it in,but it wont "take" the drivers that came with it...

heres what it looks like

Ok Spidey here we go those ebay dongles are just fine don't worry first find out what chip set it has in the dongle (zeevo....etc..)google shit out of the name till something comes out>>> then download this great prog. that works with virtually any dongle. It's called Blue Soleil from the IVT Corporation::😞(((it works with many chip sets but not all of them))):::😞((google it))) use this only if you can't get Nokia PC suite to work like many others out. after you download///follow there instructions to the Tee. Then read there manual to learn how to use (pretty simple stuff) if you can't figure out how to transfer data from your pc to phone use the>>>>>>object push service click on it >>>>>>>then click send objects. That's all,}}} this is the last resort program if you can't get your dongle too work. ok.

Instructions of how to get it running:

1. Uninstall Blue Manager software completely and any other Bluetooth software you may have.

2. Restart the computer (remember to unplug the blue monkey from the usb port)

3. Download the MSI Software

http://download.msi.com.tw/support/dvr_exe/bt45.exe

4. Install the MSI Software and restart your computer.

5. Go to C:\Program Files\Microstar\Bluetooth Software\bin\btwusb.ini

6. Open that file with notepad and edit the following line.

Change VID_0DB0&PID_1967 to VID_0a12&PID_0001
Change VID_0DB0&PID_ffff to VID_0a12&PID_ffff

There are two instances of each of them so change them all. These entries are to allow windows to detect the blue monkey device that you plugged in.

7. Save the file and plug in your blue monkey into the USB port and the system will try to find a driver file.

8. Tell the driver wizard to select C:\Program Files\Microstar\Bluetooth Software\bin\btwusb.ini

12. Windows should install the necessary driver.

13. Restart the system again and open My Bluetooth Places desktop shortcut.

14. Do a search for devices by clicking on Entire Bluetooth Neighborhood and you should see your phone.

15. Install Nokia PC Suite and restart your system.

16. Right click on the grey mrouter icon in your system tray (next to your clock in the bottom corner) and select properties.

17. Select your bluetooth com port (mine was COM4).

18. You should be prompted for a connection password on both your PC and your phone.

19. That should now be connected and you should be able to run PC Suite without a problem.
