OK now.. You're right. The Greek goverment sucks... 😃 😃 But please let me explain...
Last year, a lame reporter called Triantafilopoylos, broadcast from his TV show a member of the Greek parliament called Hrisanthakopoylos, playing those electronic fruit slot machines. The worst thing is that the player was the president of a commitee against these machines...
Anyway, after that, The parliament member, went to the reporter and asked him not to tell anything else about the situation, in exchange to give information about the man who owns these machines and many other gangster stuff. But he was stupid, because the reporter was recording on video their conversiation and broadcast it the next day!!! Talking about lame!!
The scandal was big enough. So the goverment , after troughing him out of the parliament, tryed to make a law protecting people from these machines. A small misuderstading on the text, is giving the power to the police to arrest everyone playing any elecronical game!!! :P :P 😃 😃 Including out beloved communicators...

The truth and correction is as followes...
What the purpose of this law was, is, and will be = to control and forbid the illegal slot machines here in Greece (so called frutakia = fruits...) and not all kind of games on cell phones or video games !!! Thats non sense...
The problem is that we Greeks love playing all kind of games, backgammon, lottery, betting on sports, football games, casinos, money games, sex, (sheps...) etc. For example here in Thessaloniki, we have one of the biggest casino in Europe, you should see the queues for people waiting to go in it and play... Therefore, a lot of bars, clubs, shops, etc. bought illegaly some slot machines, did not pay taxes on them, kept the income for themselves, organized illegal money games, etc...
The illegal income of those illegal slot machines and underground games is MASSIVE !!! HUGE !!! Corruption is a major problem here in Greece, and according to recent surveys made by the European Community, Greece is actually on the first position of corrupted countries in Europe...
One little joke about this matter (bur saddly a real story) = A governement deputy of the PASOK (greek socialist party in power here in Greece) was very active on creating and passing this law... But... He actually got caught on candid camera playing illegal slot machines, thus denying he did !!! Smile to the camera, you are filmed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This law was made to avoid illegal games and try to combat corruption !!!

Sound like a (not uncommon) case of catch all legislation, with the promise of only using it to catch real criminals. Problem with that kind of law is that it is open to abuse/misuse.
You know the kind of thing, I can't actually find anything real to charge you with right now, but technically you are breaking this law so we will charge you with that instead.
My biggest concern would be bumping into some customs official with less than perfect morals or one that "didn't like the look of you". Suddenly he/she finds a very good reason to confiscate my nice expensive Phone/PDA. Another method of harassment etc.

A court has thrown out a case against two internet cafe owners accused of violating a new Greek law banning computer games in public places.
In a bid to stamp out illegal gambling the Greek government passed legislation in July which banned people from playing video games in public places.
But the law has come under heavy criticism for making no distinction between interactive gambling and computer games.
The two internet cafe owners and an employee were charged after police found some of their customers playing online chess and the popular multiplayer game, Counter-Strike.
They could have been sent to jail for three months and faced fines of $4,950 each.
However, the court hearing the case has ruled the game ban as unconstitutional.
More than 300 supporters had gathered outside the courtroom in Thessaloniki on Tuesday, chanting "No to censorship on the internet".
