What do you mean by "no action" ?
What is it that you are expecting it to do ?
I have v1.21 on trial, and it works perfectly. 😃
i mean with "no action" that it won't change my profile as implimented....or change a picture as i defined in the EVENT section...
u c?

I have not tried that myself, as I am only interested in collecting Cell id info on a particular journey.
I mainly use this as a survey tool to help with my job.
If I get bored I may try the 'Events' that you are having problems with.
Events do not work on miniGPS for Nokia 6600's, even on the latest version. Only cell id's work.
Events work fine on mine however the program must be running in the background (not existed) and the trouble is when you have it running in the background your phone lights up every time you change cell because of that ghey message.
are you interersted of sharing our databases of mini gps?
i have a good database of all (3 greek networks)
only for north greece
You can post them in the Series 60 forum so all users can have access to them,we can make the post sticky so others can post too.
i already have a personal info into the database, i would rather to see if there are any people interested first and then fix it for publishing😎
and what are the usses of them jojo?😊
Ismail, its a map based on the operator base stations, its not as accurate as real GPS but it really does help.
still no clue wat it does😕
It can give you your location hence the name Mini GPS

I have just tested v1.22 and the 'Events' work perfectly for me, just the same as they did in v1.21.

tecknik .. what Nokia phone model are you using?
I have installed Psiloc miniGPS version 1.22 on my Nokia 6600. The installation works, and the program runs for the most part. However, I have discovered one substantial bug.
The program fails to update the "Cell ID" while the phone is travelled to various cell sites. As such, the "events handling" and "cell changed dialog" never get triggered, as the program does not register that the cell_id has changed.
I have tested this by driving amongst various sites, while monitoring the program's main screen. As I travel, I can note the signal strength gradually falling, then suddenly the signal justs to a high level (presumably the phone has switched to a new and closer cell site). However, the miniGPS program still shows the same cell_id that first appeared when the program was launched. If later on, I cancel the program and restart it, it will then show the new and different cell_id then what was presented in the previous session.

@sockeye
I am using a Nokia 6600.
The only time that the Cell id does not get updated for me is when I am in a call on the 6600.
In idle mode the Cell Id always gets updated.
I have noticed that if you enter a 'No Service' area, the 6600 takes a long time to change the Cell id to a working one when returning to a good service area. I suspect this is because I have the Network Select set to Auto in the 6600 settings, and the phone is searching all 4 networks for coverage.
tecknik:
It is encouraging to hear that it works for you. But I am bewildered - why not for me? Could you help me, please? Let's see if there is any difference:
My setup is:
- Nokia 6600, firmware 3.42 .. is this relevent?
- Fido network in Canada (GSM 1900 MHz) .. is this relevent?
- miniGPS vers 1.22 currently installed and fails (cell_id issue).
- miniGPS vers 1.10 previously installed and worked.
- Settings:
. Event handling = on
. Cell changed dialog = on
. Collect only name = off
- Events
. 1) Log out alarm for group
. 2) Log in alarm for group
Usage:
- miniGPS is always running.
- Cell_ID fails to update when miniGPS running in foreground.
- Cell_ID fails to update when miniGPS running in background.
- Cell_ID fails to update when "Event handling" only set to on.
- Cell_ID fails to update when "Cell changed" only set to on.
I have uninstalled, and reinstalled this program, with no change in behaviour.
I have most of Psiloc's other programs also installed (Psiloc Suite and irRemote, all latest version). Could there be a common DLL type program that is in conflict?
Do you have any ideas that could help me?
Thanks ...

I
I have:-
Nokia 6600 Firmware v3.49.1
Orange UK network (GSM1800)
MiniGPS v1.22
Settings:
. Event handling = on
. Cell changed dialog = on
. Collect only name = off
Event type- Alarm
Event On - Enter location
Cell or Group - Cell
Message - None
Tone - Nokia tune.mid
I see the only difference is your GSM and Firmware. But I can't imagine that the GSM MHz is the cause. Perhaps the firmware addresses it, but I haven't found any reference to this in my searches.
What exactly happens with "Cell changed dialog"? (ie: alarm, or merely a banner announcement.)
Do events get triggered for you when the miniGPS is running in both cases of being in foreground and background?
As you might know, miniGPS has a "process" that is always running, even without the main application having been launched. Do the events trigger even when the main application is not running, as immediately after a phone reboot?
Thanks for your help.

1) Every time Cell changes it displays a banner. No alarm.
2) Events do get triggered when running miniGPS in the background and foreground.
3) Events do not get triggered unless the miniGPS program is launched. I use a program called Active Desk which will launch programs of my choice when the phone is booted. MiniGPS is autobooted by this program.
regards, technik. 😃
OK, I give up!
Perhaps it is my older firmware. I have left queries with PsiLoc technical support, and they are looking into it.
Thanks for your help.
I received a reply from Psiloc today on this matter ...

Regarding the miniGPS, we are aware of the bug and are trying to solve this, but we do not know the exact time.
There are two possibilities:
1. You will waite for the newest version;
2. We will pay you back for the application;
