Battery life/drain question

Wait a minute guys and gals!!! As I said I only got my battery yesterday morning!!! I will report back after 3-4 charge cycle, when the battery is supposed to be "properly charged and ready to go". And sorry Muratti54, I'm no expert in battery charging. I just charge the battery with what Nokia gave me. I believe you just need to charge it a bit longer for high cap battery. There are numerous sites on the internet teaching you how to charge batteries. The site I quoted, I believe, is just teaching you how to do your FIRST charge. There is no way you need to charge it for 15.4 hours each time. I used that site cos that's the only battery site I bookmarked (cos they sell batteries which I might be interested in in the near future). Will post again when I find a better site on charging.

Try this site for charging info.

Oh and I forgot to mention that the cover doesn't quite flush as well with the phone using the high cap battery. Reason being that there is no rails on either side of the cover. See pic.
Thank you all for replying... I shall "persuade" my girlfriend that I need a new high cap battery. But then, it is my b'day tomorrow 😮ops: , so maybe I can have a battery for my b'day
why is it you need to persuade ur gf for a new battery.
Not really a heavy expensive investment isnt it?

Different family/relationship dynamics man! 😮ops: I always consult her before buying anything she would consider "junk". 😉

Finished my 1st charge cycle. Managed to last 1 1/2 days with about 1 hours of games, 15 minutes talk time, another 30 minutes of miss call ringing (to drain the battery 😮ops: ), 20+ minutes of midi playing etc. ie lots of playing, trying to drain the battery. Charge time is just over 2 hours. Initial indication is that the battery is much much better than my old "imitation" battery. Not sure how that would compare with the guaranteed original 750mAh BLB-2 however.

The guy at solware.com, where I got the battery from, said I should charge it like a normal battery with the original charger.

Adrian

They told me that I should use the charger that came with the phone.

Also the destop charger use the same "transformer" as the normal charger does it not? I mean all you are doing is plugging the standard charger into the desktop unit. Effectively you are charging with the same charger. Am I right? Or maybe you can tell us what the numbers are on the charger itself.

Adrian

I use the charger that Nokia gave me, but Muratti54 says that when you charge the HighCap battery on the phone, always there is a risk of changing the voltage... Is dangerous to charge the batt on the phone without remove it?

To be honest, I don't know. There are webpages on the science of Li-ion battery and charging it etc. I remember reading somewhere on those pages that optimal voltage for a 3.6V cells is 4.x Volts. If you look at all the charger "approved" to be used to charge the BLB-2, they all have different Voltage and Amp ratings, ranging from ~3.7V ~355mA for the ACP7 (came with the 8250) to ~5.7V ~800mA for the ACP12X (came with the 7650) [need to check the figures to confirm]. Confused. I am!!! 😃

If you ask me, then I would tell you just charge it with what they gave you. I don't think it really matters that much. The desktop charger is something that allows you to charge a spare battery at the same time in my opinion. I really don't know. I don't think many people REALLY understand it either.

Adrian

Thanks for your reply. Well, I think Ill wait to Nokia releases a High Capacity battery for our 7650! 😉
Regards!

I would not reccomend buying an 'unofficial' battery (i.e. un-Nokia ones) unless you know you can trust the brand.
I bought a BLB-2 clone off E-Bay for 10 and it worked fine for about a day, then on its second full charge cycle it expanded (litterally physically got bigger) so much that it popped the cover of my 8210 right off. It now won't even fit in the phone, but thats probably a good thing, god knows what it could do.

lol man I would have loved to have my nokia 7650 there to take a picture of ya expression where ya saw that the battery has popped the back of ya cover off :P

Yes, I was told at the electronic market "Cosmos" in Vienna that in one or two months there should be an original Nokia high capacity battery for the 7650 ... I think I will wait for this too ...

I actually have the phone on the 4th day today on the same battery. The trick to keep it alive was not going for the extended battery, but i had used the old trick (used on old phones like 6150), changed the codec order to HR->FR->EFR. By default the phone does EFR->FR->HR. Putting Half Rate first lowers the quality of the codec, but battery lasts longer. Anyone got the phone alive for 4 days yet ? I'll see tomorrow if i can get 5, the battery is almost out 8)

I remember someone mentioned the 1250mah battery from an italian site. They replied and said the battery will be available from 16th Sept and they will ship to UK... so I'm sure they will ship worldwide at a cost of course. Their website is:

www.nixie.biz

On my second charge cycle now. Made a few calls, send some text, used some of the programmes, some games... what I would call normal use, the battery is now 3 blocks after 1.5 day use. I am sure this will improve after the 3rd and 4th charge.

Um... how ???

Had another email from nixie.biz They said it will now cost 45.36 euro to DHL it to UK!. Need to preorder as well. Very expensive if you ask me. Can almost get 2 1100mah battery at that price...
