Is there a shortcut to the alarm settings? on my 6310 i could just do menu, 4, select, select but on the 6600, it appears that every night I have to trawl through the menu to get to it

One way: If you put the Clock in one of the idle screen softkeys, you can get away with just "Clock" -> "Options" -> "New alarm"
