Deleting E-mails?

5 replies · 1,581 views · Started 21 January 2004

I have setup two mailboxes, 1 = O2 Online, 2 = Yahoo Mail.

Once I connect to the mail server it lists the emails as it should but how do i delete them from the phone? When I select an email and go "Options ---> Delete" it asks if I want to delete from Phone Only or Server & Phone.
It doesnt matter which one I choose the emails still stay on the phone. I cant get rid of them.

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers,
Mike.

it basically deletes the bulk of the email but still leaves the header there incase you want to download again, only when you do a complete new check for mail will the email headers be gone...

Ok I see, so basically if the emails are still on the server then when I re-check for new mails they will come straight back again.

thanks,

hey m_aired can u please tell me how did u configure the settings for yahoo mail as i am not being able to do it....

kindly write in detail
thanks

You have to go into your Yahoo mail on the website first and activate POP access, if you go into Help the answer should be there. It also tells you the settings to enter into your phone.

Settings for Yahoo:

Mailbox name:
Yahoo

Access Point in use:
O2 Mobile Web --------- USE YOUR OWN ACCESS POINT HERE

My e-mail address:
[email protected]

Outgoing mail server:
smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk

Send Message:
Immediately

Send copy to self:
No

Include Signature:
No

Username:
?????? ------- WHATEVER THE FIRST PART OF EMAIL ADDRESS IS BEFORE THE @YAHOO.CO.UK PART

Password:
****** ------- YOU YAHOO PASSWORD

Incoming mail server:
pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk

Mailbox type:
POP3

Security:
Off

APOP secure login:
Off

And thats it I think. Took me ages to get it working though. Found out that you cant use the normal GPRS access point. I had to get O2's mobile Web access point setting before it would work.
