hi all,
where can i view what version of firmware is on my phone (3650)?
thanks a lot all
firmware
*#0000#
thx a lot
this is the reply of my phone:
V 2.50
13-02-2003
NHL-8
what's the meaning?
It means that it is firmware (phone's built-in software) version 2.50 dated February 13th 2003 for the device type NHL-8 (= Nokia 3650).
It also means that it is relatively old (never versions have been released).
If you have problems with your current one, you can have a Nokia authorized service center put a newer firmware release on your phone (it is also called reflashing as the firmware is stored in so called Flash ROM, Read-Only Memory).
thx!
yes there is a nokia center in my city.
1) but if i update the firm of 3650 if i use *#.... for formatting it return to 2.50 or 4.13?
2) and what difference i find? what improve this new firmware?
sorry for my english 😊 and thanks a lot to all 😊
The reformatting code does not revert back to an older version. When you upgrade to a newer firmware release, it is permanent.
In other words, if the original firmware was 2.50 and you upgrade to 4.13, every time you reformat, you'll still be at 4.13.
The reformatting code will just wipe every user writable piece of data clean, or the phone to the state after it has been installed with a particular firmware version.
New firmware versions for a given model usually contain only fixes for discovered problems. What they are is not something phone manufacurers usually release.
If you experience problems with your phone that could be due to problems in the firmware, then upgrading is worth it.
If it already works and you have no problems, for most people there is no need to do anything. Old saying from the computer world applies: If it isn't broken, don't fix it.
ok, thx, i think it is not necessary at this moment 😊
my only problem is that i can't rec audio in my video clip, do you think that with new firmware i solve this problem or it isn't related?
(i explained better the problem at this post: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=19689)
Hi folks.
However the 4.13 contains a bug. (At least one. 😊 )
I set up the Meeting mode to use the vibrating alert.
If I change from general to meeting the vibrating won't work. But if I turn off the phone (in meeting mode) and back it 'll work.
It's really annoying.
😡
i dont remember well, but i read that there is 4.17, it is possible?
after discussing this issue, i think that the better solution is waiting and if it is necessary upgrade the phone, only if i read from other user: "this firm is ok!"
sometimes i have errors but not big errors... i'll wait... 😊
But to read posts about the new FW someone has to upgrade to that... 😃
The Nokia service told me that the new FW will be out in february.
I don't know if it's a worldwide deadline but in Hungary.
I look forward to a new one too.
