Agile Messenger on P900 - uninstall issues

12 replies · 4,107 views · Started 28 January 2004

Against my better judgement I installed Agile Messenger 1.01 onto my P900, I would now like to uninstall it but I keep getting an error when I try to do this. I have reinstalled and attempted to uninstall with the same errors.

How can I remove this completely from my P900 without any residue?

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Hmm, I've never had any problems uninstalling Agile Messenger... Anyway, you can just manually delete the files using a 3'rd party file manager. The main files are located in C:\ or D:\system\apps\AgileMessenger. Just delete the whole folder, and Agile will disappear from your menu.

Anyway, there's a much better version out now, which can be downloaded from here; http://updates.am-im.net/AgileMessengerSEP900.SIS

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PEOPLE WHO INSTALLED THE SE P800 VERSION ON THEIR SE P900:

When trying to install the SE P900 version over the SE P800 version on your SE P900 you may not be able to do so and be given the "Access denied" error. To remedy this problem follow the instructions below:
1. Manually delete the c:\system\install\agilemessenger.sis (or d:\system\install\agilemessenger.sis if you installed on d: drive).

2. Run the Agile Messenger and connect. The application will now automatically update to the latest SE P900 version.

Alternatively you may download this patch which will remedy the problem: http://updates.am-im.net/AMP900SISRemover.SIS

There is something seriously weird about this program... Agile seems to corrupt itself after some time of use. Today it just disappeared from the menu, and checking with FileMan I noticed some weird files had appeared in the Agile folder:

However, reinstalling Agile worked fine, but the weird files are still there, and trying to delete/move/check properties etc. just gives me this message: User posted image So, I would think that the files are indeed corrupt.

And trying to access the two folders seen above, causes FileMan to crash with this error:

Like I mentioned, after reinstalling Agile it works fine again, but I'm expecting it to cause more problems because of those weird corrupted files.

Any ideas anyone??? Can someone who's using Agile please check the folder in C: or D:\system\apps\AgileMessenger and let me know if you have those weird files in there too?

Also, I had some connection problems with Agile before, but they seem to be mostly related to the MSN server, because I've started using Jabber now and the connection problems I had with MSN doesn't happen anymore using Jabber.

Despite all this I am very happy with Agile. When it's working, it works great (once I switched to Jabber that is), but there's still something wrong here, regarding those corrupted files and the fact that the program suddenly just disappeared from the menu/application list...

Hmm, this is frustrating... I did a format of both the internal and the external memory yesterday, and on the external (128MB Duo) I've reinstalled everything from scratch, because I couldn't remove that Agile folder no matter what. And now, having reinstalled Agile, the damn Agile folder is still corrupt.

When I tick the Agile folder and select "Move" from the menu in FileMan, I get this error:

And it gets even weirder, just check out the size of the folder displayed in FileMan when I check "Properties":

And even more examples... After uninstalling Agile the folder still remains with those weird files still in there:

Trying to delete the folder (after uninstalling Agile) gives me this error:

I really hope someone can shed some light on these issues... Is it really just me having this problem 😕

and I thought you Super Moderator don't face any problems in your devices 😃

well, havn't got a clue, although I've been using AgileMessenger for a while.. but never faced any problems
here are some screenshots

hope that would help u figuring the misterious strange corrupted codes!🙄

Many thanks, hAnDyGUY. It seems that it's only me having these problems... Well, actually it's no big deal I guess. The corrupt files are still there, but Agile is running fine regardless. The files don't seem to affect Agile, nor any other program, so I guess I just have to live with them being there. 😊

And yes, problems caused by 3rd party software can happen, even to super mods 😃
