Urgent help please!!!

A message showing:

Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer.

And when I reboot, a message appear "app. closed"

Please help...

Really appreciate. Thank you very much in advance.

First of all, try booting in safe mode.

To do so, keep pressed the pencil button while you power on and keep it pressed. Release it only when you enter you PIN and then keep again pressed the pencil button till your phone completes the boot process.

Then uninstall and reinstall all your software. If nothing happens, boot again in safe mode and format your phone. To format it, press *#7370# and enter your security code.
Warning: the battery must be full charged during the format process!

Hi Burnok,

try holding down the ABC key (pencil key) when you type the PIN on startup.

This is supposed to not start any autostart applications. Maybe you have a buggy app installed which crashes the handy on boot?

At least you should get the handy booted again this way. And with removing the latest changes you made, you might get it working again. 😊

I have not checked this key-press thing myself but I read it on a German 6600 FAQ page.

HTH, Harry

While am pressing the pencil key and power on, a message appear " App closed Phone " and then the PIN code:. I keyed in the code (code accpeted) there's a still a message appears "App. Closed Phone" clicked OK and still " Phone start-up failed. Contact retailer." appears.

Anymore suggestions guys?? Thanks.

this is a long a shot as 6600 is different than 3650 with its internal flash mem

right then
are u using mmc card - hope so
did this problem happen after something was installed to the mmc

if yes to both questions

remove the mmc and start the phone
u may be lucky and it be something currupt on the mmc
if the phone starts you weill need an external device to re format the mmc
formating the phone to would be advised

if u have put it onto the internal flash memory its a problem
same with internal mem

If the above fails, try a full format:

Hold the green, asterisk (*) and "3" keys while you power on your phone and keep them pressed till you see a format message on the screen.

Sorry for the delay. Got it full format

Everythings OK now except all my contacts, images, ringtones has been deleted.

But its nothing as long as my phone is up and running again.

Thank you all of you guys really appreciate your help.

Oh yeah, other thing is that I did backup all my things or datas in my PC thru PC Suite for Nokia 6600 and now I want to restore it back but the "restore" button is not highlighted or disabled but all the info is still there.

Is there any way I can restore it back??

emm
could be related to when the phone backs up it leave info on the phone to tell pc suite something is there maybe?

try cheating
move the backup file to another location
backup the phone with pc suite as normal
replace the backup files with old ones
and see if the option is there

Well, I did it but bad result. My phone can't boot anymore just showing the nokia name two or three times then off.

Got my phone in full format again

Well, maybe i'll do it on hard way, install everything what I got before even my contacts. 😞
