Rafe's note:
I've been trying this new version out and it solved the problems I had been having. This is an excellent piece of software and it's free - what more could you ask for!
I installed this software on my 3650 and have not been able to get it to connect. I keep getting the error message:
"Failed to connect to MSN service. Please verify your username / password / internet connection."
I get the same error message for Yahoo, and AIM. I tried putting in and I still get the same error message. I'm using the T-Mobile unlimited WAP.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
I think Agile Messenger needs a GPRS Internet connection, not Wap.Correct me if i'm wrong.
Yes I have GPRS also.
I removed Agilemessenger and I'm about to reinstall it and try again...
Note that you need a Internet gateway for the GPRS access point, not WAP.
i had i working fine !!! on my 6600
the update dont work !!!!
I reinstalled Agilemessenger and it still does not work.
I'm quite sure that I have GPRS internet gateway. I can browse to just about any site. I can connect in to MSN without any problem and check my email.
If anyone else got this messenger working after encountering problems like mine, I would like to know how you did it.
Thanks.
Which interenet setting are you using? you shoud not use the normal ones for wap furfing coming from your operator, but jsut the internet ones skipping that are avaoiding the wap gateway.
If you do not have them creare a new one: go to tools/setting/connections, access point, options, new access point, use defalut settings and name it 'internet' with this parameters:
-connection name: internet
-data bearer: gprs
-acces point name: internet
-user name: none (leave it empty)
-propmt password: no
-password: none (leave it empty)
-authentication: normal
-Homepage: none (leave it empty)
If it stil ldoes not work your operator might be prohibiting using certain ports (either as ap olicy or because agreed with your company if you have a corporate SIM)
You can get gprs internet gateway settings from here:
http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
or you can go to the nokia website and get service settings delivered to you phone for all networks.
I have a 3600 and connect fine to agile with both gprs and wap, however no one receives any messages I send. I dont get any errors and i receive im's fine. Anyone know whats up?
unleached, what network provider are you using?
Its been updated. The latest is 2.10. As far as i can see..the one main addition as been the capability to send pics through messenger service. The recepient gets a link for download. This makes sending pics that much more easier than through Pop 3 mails. You can eighter select a already captured picture..or send a new one ( i think the pic caputured for this purpose is NOT saved on the phone). You also have a option to specify the quality of the pics. One small step closer to videochat?
When i was notified and downloaded the update ( from V 2.0) i had some problems ..as in... intermittent unexplained disconnections and such. I uninstalled it... and did a fresh install of the same version (V 2.10)... and its doing fine now.

Version 2.10 does not work through 'Jabber'. The previous 2.00 version works fine.

hi! im using a nokia 6600! and i rily need a ym for my cellphone!! i tried agilemessenger and didnt work for me... and im about to give it a try one more time and try to put this settings... but my question is i dont a have any gprs.internet plan like the 20$ i nt-mobile.... will it work for me?? i only have the free wap from t-mobile?????
Sorry Lilfinger. It wont work with GPRS access. You need to have full WWW access. Wap access wont do.
Don't confuse GPRS and WAP.They are completely different things. It won't work with a GPRS WAP access point but it will work with a GRPS INTERNET access point.
Oops! sorry for the omission. Its supposed to read GPRS Wap and GPRS Full WWW access.
sanjay2404,i don't mean to bust your balls but on a GPRS INTERNET connection you can do a lot more then browse WWW which is just one protocol used on the Internet today.I use it for IRC,FTP,SSH and a lot more.
im using nokia 6600! im sori! but i rily dont know anything bout that gprs/wap etc..
ok...so i dont have any internet plan like the 20$ in t-mobile! but the thing is... agile messenger works perfectly for couple of weeks now... but this morning its stop conncecting!! arggg... i rily love this applicationg but i cant afford to pay additional 20$ a month!! oh guess i have to say goodbye to this program.. 😞

Dear Ghostie...
Thanks for the insight. Most of us are aware of the various protocols. I'm sure the readers got the jist of the message. BTW...In the two very different continents i've been in.... full internet access is in general being referred as "Full WWW access" even by operators.
Anyways...lets not let such trivialities bother us more than it should

well i'm in the UK and i've got Agile working on o2 dial up wap and it works perfectly 😊
I'm from the Philippines and I'm able to use agile messenger thru gprs internet (the real www internet I read someone mention here), but I can't log on with gprs over wap. I have a 3650 by the way. My friend who has a 6600 doesn't have a problem loging in with gprs over wap. I'm thinking the problem could be with my phone. Is there a big difference between a 3650 and a 6600 or does gprs access vary from country to country?
I'd like to use gprs over wap because I don't get charged for that.
Will anyone enlighten me?
Got this from Agilemobile.com:
"If you are experiencing connection issues then the following info may be helpful:
Agile Messenger requires full TCP/IP networking. Agile Messenger will not work on a WAP only connection. Being able to use your GPRS connection to browse WWW or WAP sites and download your email does not necessarily mean that you will also be able to use Agile Messenger. When you connect you should choose your Internet access point, not your WAP or MMS access point.
If you are unable to connect then contact your mobile operator and ask them if your current mobile plan supports full TCP/IP networking and if you should be able to access ports: 5190, 5050, 1863 from your mobile phone. "
So I'm led to assume that it has something to do with the phone's features. I noticed the main difference between the settings of the 3650 and 6600 is the proxy server/port number. The 3650 doesn't have the proxy server setting.
Pls do correct me if I'm mistaken.
my free 02 wap does not work can u tell me y
Hi friends !
I wanted the older version of Agile Messenger which can work on free GPRS WAP and does not need any special full access. I dont care for the features , i know it does not have many features but that is fine. I own a Nokia 3650 with T-mobilee as my carrier. DOnt wanna spend more on full GRPS access. I will return the favor suitably .

Hi there
I have installed Agile Instant messenger but I can't get it to work.
I have installed the application to the phone and memory cardbut when I enter my msn user name and password and select "register" the application closes.
I've tried uninstalling the application a few times, tried different gateways and access points but they all give the same message.
I have the correct gprs access (although I dont think this is the problem because it doesnt even try to connect)
any ideas?
Hi

I had the exact same problem. I installed opera (full version) and then agile worked. Might be a coincidence but mite be an important protocol or somfin in the opera installation that did the trick. It only works with basic WAP not GPRS though. Im in the UK on o2 online payandgo.
