For a start, you have to pay for POP3 access and I personally refuse to pay for a service that uses its own system to spam me with the most offensive, purile, useless, pathetic and misleading trash found this side of galactic central point.

The service is useless and Microsoft expects me to buy more server space from them just so I can store more of the crap that is sent from people who have been given my Hotmail address by Microsoft.

I get messages saying "your account is nearing its limit". I want to reply to Bill Gates and say "Why is it nearing its limit!? I'll tell you why, you sniveling little turd! It's because you keep sending me crap e-mails telling me about penis extensions, hair extensions, naked sorority girls, bored housewives, Russian Sluts, breast enlargements and degrees that are not worth a fart!"

Hotmail stinks to high heaven and is the biggest example of daylight robbery in modern times. To call it a service is a lie, it's a scam run by a company that thrives on making you think you are getting one thing while actually giving you something completely different!

You should be able to use the POP3 account you have with your ISP preferred ISP. Just put the account settings into your mailbox settings and you're away.

Your SMTP settings are a different matter though. You should set the SMTP server to be that of the company that operates the network on which you run your phone. I am on Vodafone so, despite the fact that my POP3 account is on ADDR (and I access my mail (POP3) from ADDR), all my outgoing (SMTP) e-mail goes via Vodafone's SMTP server (which is called Vizzavi - bu don't let that confuse you, on Orange, I used Orange's and so on).

I can't believe that there are still people out there with brains who use hotmail.

Every newbie goes for hotmail but the advanced user can find much better pop3 services. The best one is of course the one of your isp. Hotmail doesn't provide any advantage.

Why don't you use your isp's smtp server - is there a problem doing that?

I have set my pop3 and smtp servers to access my blueyonder dialup acount. This way I don't get charged 10p a minute for wap calls, they are logged as data calls and the call time is deducted from my monthly free minutes.

Totally AGREE with you pple!!! I dislike using something not belong to me. I have my own domain and my own email pop3 boxes. Better, at least you can control from server end which mail to block or block and fwd back to sender 😃 .

And also you are the server administrator and you know it's only you have access into it, unlike hotmail or others, you never know if any pple have read your mail in server ( Server Administrator ) or maybe you boss, when all company in the world will made a BCC of anyone who email out to other, they love to check who have send out hate mail about the bosses :evil: :x :x :x :x
