I'm trying to extract video from a dvd to play on my 6600.
at the moment I am doing it like so...
extract .vob from DVD with DVDDecrypter
convert .vob to Mobiclip compressed AVI with FlaskMPEG
convert .AVI to .MO
Problem with this method is flaskmpeg doesn't offer 16000Hz in the sound options which causes the .MO conversion to fail listing an error about the audio.
Second method I used was...
extract .vob from DVD with DVDDecrypter
convert .vob to uncompressed AVI with FlaskMPEG
convert uncompressed AVI to Mobiclip encoded AVI with virtualdub
convert AVI to .MO
This doesn't work either saying it cant attach to the audio stream (or similar)
If I run virtualdub on the paris.avi in the tutorial it converts to .MO fine.
Any ideas?
I use the following....
DVD to .vob using DVD Decrypter
.vob to .avi using AutoGordianKnot
Then use VirtualDub to convert .avi so it can be converted to .mo
Works every time for me....u just need to experiment with file size on the AGK conversion. I tend to use 1/4 CD for feature length movies.

Hi,
I had the same dilema and just sorted it in the last week.
Go here http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/stable/
Virtual-Dub MPEG2. I find it opens the ripped DVD files and then you can cutout the section you want. Save as AVI as normal, then open the AVI with Mobiclip converter and voila.
Ian
P.S. Email me and I'll send you my Virtual-Dub settings to give full screen if you want to try them?
How do I encode the audio with VirtualDub-Mpeg2? I get an error saying no decoder could be found in virtualdub.
Hi,
Download the fix for this, it's in the 3rd paragraph down on the site above:
Note that this version cannot decompress AC-3 audio.
If you need AC-3 support, try my AC-3 ACM Decompressor.
Download the AC-3 Decompressor, then view the 'Readme' file that comes with it on how to install.
This should fix it.
Ian
excellent thanks!!
my .mo's are coming in about 1.3MB/min this is with a 75% quality setting.
Hi,
Your welcome.
It is fairly easy using this software. Sometimes the audio isn't quite in-sync but it's bearable.

any idea why episodes of the simpsons are coming out at nearly twice the size with the same settings, does animation not compress down as well?
Hi speedsix,
Hmmm, I don't know about this one mate.
Essentially they should be the same if their from a dvd, eg. .VOB, MPEG2 fiels and the .ISO files, so the fact they are animated shouldn't make any difference.
But, as to why they would be bigger I don't know.
You could try cutting the frame rate down some more maybe, as they are animations you may be able to get away with less.
