Why is PsiLoc not very responsive?

23 replies · 6,010 views · Started 04 February 2004

I have purchase tons of program from them and since I have a 6600, I require a new Serial Number (since it is tied to the IMEI).

But PsiLoc has NOT been responding to my emails for the last 3 weeks. Those who bought PsiLoc apps or thinking of buying it, did you get any response?

this is really bad reputation for a company like PsiLoc

I agree, this is very poor, especially so, considering that Symbianware, makers of Stacker, sLauncher, Blacklist and many more, sent me new codes 4 my 6600 at no charge and did so within a day of me making the request.

Superb service from Symbianware.

Psiloc...take note! 😡

Rob.

Weird, isn't it? I mean, back in the era of my 7650 and 3650 (damn.. seems like a long time!), PsiLoc was very responsive. In fact, we exchanged email almost eveyday in a 1 week period when I am having problem with the Task Manager application.

Now, it's obvious PsiLoc is a growing company and a much better one now than it is 2 years ago, but it still doesn't make sense why they're not responding email to their LOYAL customer.

How about others who bought PsiLoc software?

To tell you the truth, I am kinda giving up now and rather look at other software. If you (or anyone) know the ALTERNATIVE of software that can do the following, I will greatly appreciate it:

1. File Explorer: is FExplorer as good as Psiloc
s eFile Manager?

2. Task Manager: Manage running application and, most importantly, allow me to add ANY application to the "Favorites" menu (or the "Go to" menu in 6600).

3. Profiles management: with PsiLoc's eProfiles, I can create a customized profiles for the phone, such as automatically do a key-lock after a certain period of time (NOT phone lock). Also, eProfiles allows profile scheduling, such as having the phone in "Silent" profile from 8 am - 6 pm and afterwards switch automatically to "General" profile.

4. Concurrent alarm: using PsiLoc's World Clock Pro, I can create concurrent alarm that run on weekdays only (M-F) and none on weekend.

BTW, as you can see, I have purchased quite a lot of their program in the recent past, but now I can't use it with my 6600. 😞

1.FExplorer is awesome,i've used for more then a year.

2.What about Switcher,its freeware.

3.No freeware.Try SymbianWare's Profile Manager.

4.I don't know, searh the online shop,i'm sure SymbianWare or Epocware have something similar.

Keep us up to date on the PsiLoc issue.

Yeah I brought Mini GPS would rearlly like some way of seeing the cell name on the main screen but they seem to ignore all your emails and requests.

Havent seen any of thier products updates in weeks.

Hey thanks, GhostDog! I'll check out those software.

For PsiLoc, I am in the verge of giving up. I send a total of.. wait.. 8 emails in the last 1 week!

😞

Unplugged.. et tu?

I think what he meant is that he probably have an old version and he can't upgrade to v.1.2.1 since PsiLoc is not responding to his email.

@Ianwarrior2000

You are a real comedian 😃

Ever thought of making a living from giving us all a laugh 😃 😃

I have v1.22 but if your on the Home Screen (not the main MiniGPS screen) would be cool to have the Cell Name on there so you dont have to keep going into the program.

I tried, but they choose Jerry Seinfield instead. 😉

UPDATE

Finally, PsiLoc has responded to my email today. They have given me all the correct serial number for the applications.

Those who did not receive response in the past, please try to email them again.

Thanks!

I finally got new license keys from Psiloc after waiting for a week and a half. These are the latest versions which I have installed on my Nokia 6600.

- Extended File Manager: 1`71 -> FExplorer is better
- Extended Profiles Profess: 2`02 -> Unnecessary
- Mini GPS: 1`21 -> Buggy and poor
- Screen Saver: 1`71 -> Battery consumption
- Space Doubler: 1`81 -> Unnecessary
- Task Manager: 1`51 -> Appman is better
- Total irRemote: 1`41 -> Buggy and poor
- World Clock Professional: 1`71 -> Worthwhile and works

Thus, I found only the last application worthwhile.
Below is my detailed analysis.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extended File Manager

Good:
- Works.
Poor:
- Slow to launch.
Note:
- FExplorer works just as well, but is faster and free.
Thus:
- Use FExplorer instead.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extended Profiles Professional

Good:
- Works.
Poor:
Note:
- Limited value in functionality.
Thus:
- Use builtin Profiles instead.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mini GPS

Good:
- Works, but major bugs.
Poor:
- Bug prevents assignment to cell when group exists.
- Bug causes some event actions to fail.
- Application runs permanently as background process.
Note:
- Limited practical value.
Thus:
- Don't bother.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Screen Saver

Good:
- Works.
Poor:
- The advanced ssavers will increase battery consumption.
- Application runs permanently as background process.
Note:
- Limited practical value.
Thus:
- Don't bother.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Space Doubler

Good:
Poor:
- Slows down launching of applications.
Note:
- Limited practical value.
- Alternatively, purchase large MMC card and install
all applications onto that card (E: drive).
Thus:
- Don't bother.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Task Manager

Good:
- Works, but minor bugs.
Poor:
- Minor bug where occasionally program will not launch on reboot.
- Minor annoyance when switching prgm tasks, as builtin taskmgr is faster.
- Application runs permanently as background process.
- Standby key assignments often fail.
Note:
- Appman works just as well, but is cleaner and free.
Thus:
- Use Appman instead.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total irRemote

Good:
- Works.
Poor:
- Very short effective transmission range (5 feet max).
- Few pre-recorded configuration sets for appliances.
- No learning mode.
Note:
Thus:
- Don't bother.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
World Clock Professional

Good:
- Works.
- Alarm can be set for Working days only, etc.
- Repeat alarms.
- Multiple alarms.
Poor:
Note:
- This is better than builtin alarm.
Thus:
- Good to purchase.

Good
- Works with NO major Bugs here.

"Poor - Bug prevents assignment to cell when group exists....."
What do you mean by this ?

" - Application runs permanently as background process ".....YES, Of course it does because it is supposed to...THIS IS NOT A BUG !

Note:
- Very useful to a GSM network engineer.

Thus:
- Don't bother unless you understand what this program can do 😃 😃 😃

Psiloc has since released a new release, 1.22. This fixes the cell/group editing bug as documented on their site.

I have not been able to get any events to actually work. Specifically, I have an event to sound an alarm when the phone enters a specific cell, and another event when it exits it. Neither of those events ever trigger an alarm.

technik,
Have you been able to get an event to work?
(I presume you are using a Nokia 6600 phone.)

It could be true, but Task Manager have something that Appman don't: the ability to add ANY program to your "Favorites" (or "Go to" in 6600).

I hate clicking repeatedly to go to certain folder, I rather just go to the "Favorites" and click the app. right there.

Look again ...

Appman can even add any app to the favorites folder. In Appman, go to the last (right most) screen, "Installed apps". There, highlight an app, press Options, click "add to favs".

Hi sockeye,

I sent you a PM,

The last time I tried events, it worked fine.

I will have a look for the new 1.22 version.

😃😃

Well, have got to say, NO PROBLEMO on my side.

I upgraded multiple programs and asked a for new keys at [email protected] and I had my keys (8 prg's) in 2 days.

So, I don't understand this ! !

Cyber.

But, have to say, I did send them my IMEI, all the names and version numbers and the OLD keys from the programs I was using.
Then I wrote them the new versions that I had downloaded. I just makes things easy for them.

Umm.. when did your FIRST emailed them? 2 days ago? 4 days ago? I emailed them 3 WEEKS ago. That's quite a long time, especially when I can NOT use any of the PsiLoc program I purchase since its keys uses the phone IMEI.

Speaking of sending them the IMEI, dude... I did that too. I have used their program since the era of 7650 (hmm.. sounds like a long time isn't it?).

But relax on the "!!". If you don't understand, just ask, as I did in my original questions.

I did it 10 days ago. it took 2 days.

Err.. sorry.. you emailed them 10 days ago, but got the reply 2 days ago, is it? So total wait time was 8 days?

See.. for me it was 3 weeks.. so it was bad.

Funny thing was that I suddenly got 3 replies from PsiLoc, which basically a reply of 3 of my previous emails (out of a total of .. 8.. I lost of count..).

Hmm.. I think they all went for vacation and didn't check for email. 😃

lanwarrior2000 what i think cyber date meant was that it took ONLY 2 DAYS and not 8 days

what he meant was that he sent it 10 days ago and received an email in 8 days ago
