Help, My P800 has gone crazy

I had just over 250 sms in my inbox and started realising I wasn't receiving text messages properly, this went on for about 3 days, the message would arrive, it would pop up as having arrived and some times I coudl even read the message but then it would not go into the inbox and I could never get it again. At first I thought they were flash messages because the first 2 were from orange, but then I started getting the same effect on messages from freinds.
Then viewing my SMS inbox started becomming erratic, it randomly refreshes the list while I'm viewing it and frequently crashes when I try to view messages. Then 4 days after I noticed the problem a little indicator popped up at the bottom (an envelope with a cross through it) and told me my SMS inbox had overflowed and SMS had been disabled and I should delete unwanted messages. Strange, as the internal disk had over 3 meg free. Anyway, I deleted about 60 messages and reset the phone but the problem remained. So I deleted another 60 or so and still the indicator stayed and I wasn't receiving messages properly.
So I backed up the phone and used the service menu to format the internal disk. Before I even restorted the backup I turned on the phone to see if the problem had gone, but NO!!! with no messages in my inbox what-so-ever, the indicator was still there!!!!

Any Ideas, I'm so annoyed, I think I missed out on a date cuz of this problem, I got a message, it was from a girl I was cahtting to a few nights ago but it wouldn't let me read the goddamed message!!!!!!! HELP!!

Cheers everyone.

Weird, I have solved the problem, it was due to some bizarre behaviour on the P800. I thought the SMS lockdown may have been a network thing, so I bunged my SIM in my spare phone (a 3330), when I turned it on it was still flashing SMS overflow. Then I had a brainwave, maybe the SIM card messages were full. Indeed they were, with all the new messages (alas no date with the girl, she was just txting to say she'd tried to call). So I deleted them and put the SIM back in the p800 and lo-and-behold it works fine.

So there must my a message limit on the P800, bizarely when it reached that limit (which I think was 256) it started storing messages on the SIM card, when that filled up it stopped accepting messages at all. Thing is it wouldn't start receiving messages again until the SIM was emptied, no matter how much space was left on the phone. Odd.

Oh well. A lesson learnt I guess.

Night all.

I can't for the life of me think what happened then, is there an option on the P800 to store new messages on the SIM which I might have accidentaly selected?

I was wondering if there's an option to do so... but guess there isn't (as far as I know), so the only matter that happened to (I guess) was that you have an almost full SIM with SMSs, and by someway you had the last few SMSs MOVED to your SIM, which started the problem

anyway glad it's sorted out😉
