My 6600 keeps beeping and saying 'Not enough memory to receive SIM messages. Delete some data first' (I might have paraphrased the last sentence - I couldn't quite remember!)

I'm guessing that Orange are trying to send me a SIM update and that my phone's not accepting it.

Question is, how do I make it work??!

Firmware v 3.42.1

Deej

Or... why don't you try going to messages>option>settings>Others>Memory in use... change it to Memory card instead of phone memory.

Thanks for your replies guys...

Thing is, I have plenty of memory free on both my phone memory (3.5Mb free) and memory card (11Mb free)

😕

menu>messages>options>SIM Messages

delete these messages (can only hold a max of 10).

Excellent! Didn't know that bit existed.

I've deleted all the messages (which, incidentally were ages old) so we'll have to see what happens now...

Thanks

Deej.

I had only had 6 messages in my 'Inbox', but Orange told me that I would have to delete all messages from my 'Inbox' so that the 6600 will accept a Sim Update.

I have only just got my 6600 on Orange.
Had it a day.

It had started giving me that message as well 😞

I've followed the instructions above.
Deleted the one text from SIM messages.
Set the memory in use to the card instead of the phone.
Checked the memory status : 23Mb free on card and 3.3Mb free on phone....

I'm baffled.

Any more ideas?

I have the same prob with my 7610 on Orange.
I think the problem is that if you install a piece of software thats buggy it will muck up your phone and make mesaging do wierd things.,
the solution is to format the phone .
Type " *#7370# " and then it will ask you for password, after you enter the password and click OK, the phone will start "formatting" back to it original state.
Password is 12345

Hope it helps

I had same problem, formating it worked but you lose all your stuff. So move contacts to MMC and backup thing beforehand
Thx

They are normal SMS messages, but stored on the SIM card, instead of the phone's memory. That's all.
