A 6600 supports .rng for mono/simple ring tones, but .mid (SP-MIDI), .wav, .awb and probably others too for polyphonic/digital ring tones.
Renaming a file won't help in reformatting the file's internal format.
An .awb file will work as an .awb file.
The 6600 has a bunch of .awb ring tones built-in already as it comes from the factory. They're in Z:\Nokia\Sounds\Digital
