Is full formatting healthy to the mobile??

8 replies · 5,858 views · Started 15 February 2004

hi,
i use nokia 6600 i format my mobile after i test my mobile with various applications because sometimes there are some files which dont go just by removing them by MANAGER so is formatting healthy to the mobile?? i use the green key+*+3 format(hard format)

considering that a mobile phone only has solid state memory, it wouldn't detract much from the lifespan or reliability.

However, i am not condoning that you do it everyday!

you should only need to do such an aggressive format if your phone is unstartable or has a problem that cannot be fixed....

According to Orange technical customer services, if you format the 6600 you can lose some network specific features, and so they advise NOT doing a hard format.

i have done hard format on my 6600(orange) with no problems.if after that you cannot connect to orange gprs just remove the battery with the phone switched on, after put the battery back and switch on the phone and it will search for network services.orange customer services told me about this.

You need to find someone with a copy of the Orange Backup program.

I never use Orange Backup, but prefer to synch all my contacts to MS. Outlook. 😃
