FIX FOR SHITE MMC's !

8 replies · 2,717 views · Started 15 February 2004

Okay i worked out a easy fix for MMC Cards such as the great lil kingmax 256mb i have and i know others are having a problem with. But here is a long and dull but worthwhile solution that i have been using as of late.

The company did not reply to me so i took this into my own hands and figured out that the MMC cant INSTALL files, (.sis, .blz or any to be honest), but it has NO problem playing files. Which is strange.

BUT with ur nokia 32mb everything works great, jus unzip and install ur files onto the Nokia 32mb, Take it out, Read the card into ur PC, Go into the 'system/apps' folder, and copy the name of the folder of the app u want onto the PC.

Put in your crap MMC and just transfer it over into the same directory, i have tried this and it is working like a dream 😃.

/me pats myself on the back.

Come on ppl ur all welcome to pat me 😃

genius!
i wish i had read that before i bought my 128mb card, i was going to get 256 but all the probs people have with them put me off.

Better save up again!

cheers

silly question but do cards greater than 128mb void the noika warranty seeign as they only support 128 max?

No, they will not void your warranty, however Nokia does not support anything above 128MB, so any problems that arise from having such a card are up to you to deal with..

Actually it DOES void ur warrantee, sorry. They claim that larger mem cards can also damage the fone itself as they have only been tested up to the max mem.

But surely u wudnt be stupid enough to tell them u used a bigger MMC if sumthing went wrong, lol...

Oh, and about MMCs for anyone interested...

I just sent mine back (kingmax 256) and ordered a TEC one... they have had NO probs even with 512mb, install fine and everything... one of the few that have designed for 6600 etc... there was another brand too but they are non-refundable so I ignored them completely incase they didnt work after all.

I have the kingmax 256 card (from ebuyer) and have had no problems with it.
I have my sms use the card, I have lots of movies and pics, and also the c64 Frodo emulator installed on it.

What problems are you people having?

actually, it DOESNT void your warranty.

Nokia just states that they do not SUPPORT anything larger than 128.

Why do they only say "not support" and dont say "void warranty" -- because they have NO WAY of checking.

Its like a CD in a CD-Rom drive... no one can tell what type of CD was in their previously to "void" your warranty.

Yes, they have no way of proving... but if u were stupid enough to tell them it WILL void warrantee, read the smallprint.

But, again, surely u wouldnt tell them to tecnically u still have ur warrantee - just make sure u take the card out b4 u send it, lol.
