Trouble with usb connect to computer

Can anyone help me, I've installed the software that came with the n-gage but it doesn't show on my computer as being connected even with blue tooth connection and this was tried on 2 different computers. I can transfer files from my computer to n-gage with b/t but i can't transfer files via usb. 😕

IMHO I think its your nicks. Try changing those and get back to me with the results. No, honestly i dont know I have had 5 mem cards pass through my hands from various manufacturers and have had no problems even filling it up to the brim with stuf and even sometimes unseremoneusly disconecting it from the USB. Mabe I am just lucky.

Don't think it has anything to do with the memorycard ...
My XP just doesn't detect any USB device, normally you'll get some sort of beep when any USB device is plugged in, the N-Gage doesn't trigger this, maybe something has to be changed in the port settings of my USB port?
The N-Gage on the other hand does detect that it's connected.

BTW: I'm using a laptop if that would have anything to do with it...

ive had no probs with laptops either. got one of each and as shadow says, regularly stuff em full of rubbish and transfer stuff between a desktop n laptop (both xp btw) via the usb cable.

great way of swapping save games around !

i do get big problems if the cards in question arent formatted in the n gage 1st. other than that tho ive never even installed software on both machines, just plug n play as it says on the tin.

Dazler was it ever detected by your pc? Do you have another XP system to test it on?
Try looking at the drivers for the usb. Download if you can the latest drivers or have them reinstalled. Try another mmc if you have one(it never hurts to try). You really need someone elses pc to try your n-gage on.
The things it could be are this
1. MMC
2.N-gage
3.XP(USB drivers)
4.USB cable

As for the detection carried out on the n-gage i think it is very basic and is no indicator of a true usb connection(IMO).

For the above the solutions that could be carried out in order of preference.

1.Other computer(XP prefereably)

2.Other MMC

3.USB cable

4. Other n-gage

Try those out for size.

it did work on another xp system ...
So I guess I'll have to try another MMC.
I tried downloading newer USB drivers but no avail.

Thx anyway

If it worked on another xp system then your only true solution is to reinstall xp from scratch unless you have the time to disable and reinstall each driver to see whats going on. Also if you dont want to do that and your hard drive is getting quite full up you could get a secondary hard drive and shove another version of xp on there if that works you could have two versions and slowly migrate to the newer version over time. When finally you got everything you need in the newer version delete the old and you have a extra hard disk to store all other crap you have.

Strange thing is that all the other USB thingies work.
Anyway I'll figure it out, but since my laptop has a card reader I can just fill my MMC up that way, which works very fast btw.

no guys, i think your pb is that you had formatted the mmc with windows, so if you plug the n-gage via USB cable, it doesn't work, you can just use a card reader. if you have a digital camera using mmc, you should try to format with the camera and try again with your n-gage,,, sometimes it works, but not always... so you have to buy a card reader, a BT adapter or a new mmc...
i had this pb so now i'm using a card reader but it's so inconvenient to turn off the phone anytime i wanna put something on my mmc.
i hope that could help you

!!!long life to the n-gage!!!

Formatting the MMC on a PC is perfectly OK as long as you format it as 16-bit FAT or VFAT instead of FAT32 or NTFS or any other file system format.

i know this is nothing to do with the n-gage and so is a tad off topic, but does the same apply for smart media cards ?
