This was pointed out to me by GhostDog its excelent ofcourse i have only tried the demo its about 25-35% more efficient than mobiclip as far as I have tested so far and supports landscape mode to allow full screen viewing. Plus many other features. Try it!

Other features like the standard xvid codec and subtitles! Its already in the news section 😃

I only tried it on PC so far,so i'm geting ready to be dissapointed,i hope not!

What ammount of memory are we talking about? To store a 2 hours movie in a 176x208 screen resolution with divx or xvid I think it's about 400 or 500 MB.What's more, the ARM9 processor could DECODIFY those codecs in real time? I don't know either....

Well a 1:30 hour movie took up 74 megs at 80kbps. So I would say about 100 megs per 2 hour movie which is not bad since most have a 256 or at least 128 meg mmc. As for what it looks like on the n-gage i will tell you soon!

deathmonger,i don't know where your information is coming from but its not exactly acurate. The size of the file will depends on the encoding setings:bitrate, whether or not the sound is stereo, framerate, resolution etc etc.

BTW:mpeg4,3gpp even mobiclip are just versions of the divx codec so the 104MHz ARM CPU on most Series 60 devices shouldn't have any problems decoding xvid.

To prove your theory wrong,I encoded a 4 minute movie, with 25 fps 208x88 video/16khz 16bps stereo audio and it resulted in a 5 MB file.

You don't need the convertor, you can convert files using VirtualDub.Still haven't reached satisfactory playback results.

Ghostdog I guess you just make the movie fit the screen size of the mobile phone, correct? Or do you use other settings. Also its the player thats the demo the converter can be used idefinetaly. Am I correct or wrong?

You can also play with the bitrate and framerate for best results. The convertor has its limitation also but i don't think its time limited.I only suggested VirtualDub because it has more options to play with.

Sorry deathmonger, the files are too large and i'm on a 33600.

I downloaded the trial and copied a movie that I converted with VDub. The playback on the pc was like surround sound (maybe because I have 8 speakers hooked up!!!) I love the fact that it has landscape and portrait views. The sound on the phone isn't that great but I'm still trying to figure out how to adjust the settings. Funny thing is the movie paused on the phone and asked me to register... how nice!! Lol.

Thats the limitation then. Havent got round to testing it fully yet just been messing with settings. Thanks darla!

I will say this much though, out of the 3 methods that I have tried as far as getting movies onto my phone, this has the best picture quality!

Hey all! Ive finally got me pc back from repair, so i can start playing around with some of these new apps. If i get the time ill try and make another guide for these new movie apps and update the Helix guide.
