You will not believe this, going through security at Gatwick, chucked my phone in a tray, walked through, security chap grabs my phone and pulls me over, though it was the 6600 advert!! He says to me "There seems to be a sharp object concealed within this phone" so I get the stylus out and he confiscates it!! Kick up a fuss, told in no uncertain terms, that I should be pleased that I'm not getting arrested and sent on my way!!
1 stylus down, 1 to go!!
Check with the airport authorities when I arrive back in the UK and they suggest that the stylus from all PDA's etc is removed and placed in hold luggage. Explain that I go away on business for a few days at a time, only take hand luggage and that this is not feasible.
Suppose I ought to start sharpening the old finger nails up!
That's too bad. If you need another stylus you can buy it here:

I wouldn't do that as they'd probably cut your finger off before they let you on the plane.
Seriously that's the most daft thing I've ever heard. If styluses are banned what about ballpoint pens or pencils? I have to say I've not had a problem. It just sounds to me like a security bloke that was being deliberately annoying.
That is the most rediculous thing I have heard in a long time. 😡
British Airways do not allow to use P900 even in flight mode while on board. The question is what was the point of creating "flight mode" option?

I've used my P900 on a British Airways flight?
Stuardess told me even if it is in flight mode, i cant use it.
Maybe it's because you called her a stewardess! They hate that 😊 I believe the politically correct term (this week) is cabin crew.

Most likely thought you were using the phone and not as MP3/MP4 player.
Not everyone is knowledgable on the latest gadgets
Ah, I've flown through Gatwick twice this year since having my P900 and never been stopped.
The trick is to put it in with your hand luggage, and not on its own in a tray, that way it gets lost with all the hundreds of other items I carry (like about 6 pens, keys, several power supplies for various electronic gadgets I take like my two cameras etc).
The reason that phones are banned in flight mode is that the cabin crew cannot be sure you have switched the phone into it correctly i.e. turned all the transmitters off. Phone usage is banned when the engines are running and as every phone is different there is now a blanket ban on phones in flight mode.
I cannot see why a stylus is any different from a pen, so that one seems a mystery. I carry mine all the time, including the USA with no problems (so far!!!!)

That's not a good argument. They take it on trust that you have switched your mobile off so they should take it in trust that you know how to use your own device.
I suspect every flight has quite a lot of mobiles that have not been switched off. If they really think that mobile phones are a credable risk to the safety of the plane they ought to install electronic detectors to find them.
Why are people allowed to use laptops in a plane? After all they are likely to have a GSM or 3G wireless modem inside them and what about bluetooth in PDA's?
I agree with airlines doing their best to make flights safe but I think a bit of common sense would help. If I really thought that something as easy to do as accidently leaving a mobile switched on could cause problems then I think I would be worried about flying 😉
I don't disagree with you Langdona, I'm just stating the policy of a major British Airline. Airlines, the CAA and Boeing/Airbus have cannot prove that mobile phones and other transmitters cannot possibly affect aircraft systems so their reaction is to ban them full stop, which is a pity.
This can even include the emissions from an electronic device such as a laptop, and you may on occasion be asked to turn it off in flight.
Cheers
Dave
Yes sorry I was just disagreeing with the policy not what you were saying.
