Bear with me please. I would like to create a music ringtone from my CDs for P900. I see that mp3 files can be used. How do I create a MP3 files to use for ringtones? I just want to use snippets for a reasonable size. So, I need to download a song from a CD, edit to a reasonable size and play it as a MP3 ringtone. No illegal stuff please. Thank you.
How do I create a ringtone?
Use CDEX for ripping from your CD to mp3, this is an excellent piece of free software.
mp3 cutter for cutting up your converted mp3's
Thank you very much Chewie!!
I just have one more question. What is the appropriate or an efficient length in seconds for a MP3 ringtone? Thanks!
I use CDEX and Sound Forge.
-Edit-
Most of my ringotones are 10 to 20 seconds long.BTW:I find mp3 files to be too soft when used as ringtones so i use wav files

I use MyMP3 Pro and this allows you to increase the volume of the MP3 as you're ripping it. Makes it much better as a ring-tone, but still nowhere near as loud as my favourite - a WAV file of an old bakelite phone ringing. Still scares the living **** out of everyone within a hundred yards when it goes off 😊
I used Chewie's suggestion and just placed Metallica's Sad But True as my ringtone. Very cool and thanks for the help all!
I have a few of those too!
I showed you mine, now you show me yours 😃
Aw shucks, but I get all shy......Well, I suppose maybe this once.
BTW, Tomoh, love the idea of a Metallica ring tone. Might give the opening riff of "Enter Sandman" a go this evening!
I make my ringtones approx 45 seconds. If I need to increase the volume I use goldwave.
If anyone has a wav or mp3 of the old style phone ring, bakelite style, please drop me a line?
Search the Series 60 multimedia forum.I believe you will find a few.
The one attached above is a wav of an old bakelite phone. It is the loudest ringtone I have ever come across and can be neither missed nor ignored.
