When Orange did a sim swap (or whatever it is called) when I upgraded from a 7110 to 7650 I was told I would receive a number of txt messages that i should read and delete then power cycle the phone. The phone works but I have never received any txt's from anyone other than friends.
I rang orange and they said they would resend the txt's but still nothing!
Should I keep on to Orange? do the txt messages actually do anything useful?
Does your phone work fine?
Do you have any network based problems?
Can you ring/recieve/text/WAP.. etc?
If so, then just forget about them. There are only a few things an operator can do with an OTA broadcast. The only two I remeber was changing the message centre number for my voicemail, and adding a few extra characters to my texting alphabet (such as the Euro sign).
BTW... does anyone know how to get the Euro sign on a keyboard??
thanks for replying.. but Alt Gr and E gives me an character.
But I fiddled with other keys and the Alt Gr key and I found that the number 4 is the sign. Cheers for that.
Hi, I had the same dillema with Orange, though it was for me, just an oversight.
Check in your message Inbox, the update should be in there, probably the first message. For some reason, Sim Update messages don't alert you to their arrival, they just sneak into your inbox.
Let me know if this is the case.
Also, as far as I can tell, all the Sim Update did was add the Orange Wap access methods, which can be set up manually using the info in the Orange 7650 Quickstart type guide thingy. 😊
Hi, thanks for the replies. Had a look in the inbox but nothing unexpected there. My son has a 7650 as well (on my account!!) and he has not received any either.
When i can bear the wait i will ring them again and get a resend.
Check the SIM inbox. Mine went in there for some reason (Messaging -> Options -> SIM messages)
