The third Symbian Platform (after the Communicators and Series 60) can now support OPL. Following a quiet development process, the OPL-Dev team is pleased to offer not only an OPL Runtime and SDK for UIQ, but a full suite of OPX Language extensions, providing access to almost every facet of the UIQ Platform (Source: The OPL Diary).
Thanks also go to UIQ themselves, who have announced OPL at the annual 3GSM jaunt to Cannes., and have generally been really supportive of getting OPL onto devices such as the Sony Ericsson P900 and the Motorola A920.

Sorry for nitpicking but I assume that must be Series 90, though with the Nokia 9500, it looks like Series 80 is coming to life again.

Right then, let's answer those few points...
Series 90 (Nokia 7700): There is a pre-release testbed of OPL running on this, so I would expect a runtime shortly (in weeks?) after release.
Series 80 (Nokia 9500): Not sure how much I can say beyond OPL *mostly* works on the 9500
Why has UIQ shot past Series 60? Because someone joined the team who knew UIQ and Symbian C++ very well and just focused on porting from the 9210 base, hence all the OPX's as well as the base runtime.
If this is the difference ONE developer can make, imagine if we had another two or three, giving at most an hour a week to help bug testing?
We're still looking at the Serires 60 FEP bug, and it is holding up a lot of things, but if we crack that, then it's rather like opening the floodgates feature wise.
