It is not illegal if you create the clip for you PERSONAL use. You are allowed to rip DVD, if you do not plan to redistribute it afterwards. Search this forum on fow to make clips

Though California has just ruled that even software to make COPIES of DVD's for PERSONAL use is illegal, thanks to the MPAA. It's amazing what you can achieve if you pay the right people in "the land of the free" 🙄
Don't know whether this is something AAS's admin might have to bear in mind when it comes to people recommending DVD ripping software on here. Hope not.
Since AAS is not hosted in California I don't think we'll have a problem with "their" law.I hope its not contagious. 🙄
Though I agree with you entirely, when has the source of origin bothered them? Didn't they arrest a Russian for writing and selling PDF Copyright circumvention software over the internet FROM Russia?
In California, as far as I am aware, if it can be accessed from California, then it falls under Californian law.
And I seem to remember some kid from Norway falling fowl of the same thing.
Yes,but they arrested him while he was presenting his software in the US 😉 In the end,all charges were dropped,I think.
Are you talking about DVD Jon?The kid who developed DeCSS(the first dvd ripping tool)who recently bypassed iTunes protection?In the DeCSS case he was released but he might be prosecuted again because of the iTunes issue.
So,California is out of the question for the summer 😃
