Hi All,
Not sure if this is the right place to ask. are there any viruses which have been affecting symbian os phones? is this something we should be thinking of? if a virus is embedded into an .sis installation file, won't it be a problem as my phone tends to start installation as soon as it finds out it is installable? I know thats why they have certificates but its not unknown for viruses to affect official software binaries.
Just a thought.
Jim
No viruses for Symbian OS yet but some say that malware does exist.

And that apps marketed, what kinda damage will a true hacker do to our handsets?
Ian
P.S. Has anyone been brave enough to try this on their 6600's?
Good idea, shame it was a nightmare app.
Thanks for that, I was about to! 😡

Haha...I've tried it.It was probably that which messed up my phone. But i've rebooted my phone from the rom which fixed my phone.I think.Umm...What's malware?
Malware is a piece of software that does harm to your device.
When i installed wildskins it messed with my phone menu bars. but it looked terrible so i uninstalled it. and reformatted my phone.and the memory card.I *think* my phone is back to normal now
well this aint exactly a virus but i have a .zip files which is less than 100 kb but when the files is unzipped on phone or pc extracts a .txt file of 40 mb
and if that is transferred to a phone memory i think some damage can be done...
dont have the heart to try that out or wont suggest that to do..!!
Maybe there's a lucrative market for writing virus checkers for the symbian os. Now all we have to do is to put a rumour out that there is a virus about.<joking>
The new Nokia 9500 will be equipped with a couple Symantec's products. One of them is probably a antivirus.

Is the 9500 the new enterprise level communicator?
