e-mail client and ssl

We have a e-mail server which uses imap, and ssl at port 993, however I can't seem to find any option on setting a port in the email client on the 6600 😞 anyone have any ideas?

I don't think there is such a setting (at least not exposed through the user interface, even if it isn't actually hardcoded somehow in the Messaging application).

Anyhow, I don't know if it'll work or not (never tried it), but try putting the port name after the server name ("my.server.com:993"😉 and tell us if it works or doesn't.

Question to you: Why are you using a "non-standard" port when there's already an assigned, one for this purpose? Hackers or script kiddies using port scanners will find it anyway, if they need/want to.

i've tried it. dunno why we're using 993 though.. it's openssl and not that ms "secure stuff" that I suspect the phone of using.

No Symbian phone uses any "ms 'secure stuff'" if "ms" = "Microsoft".

Symbian phone's "secure stuff" is defined by standards bodies like IETF, GSMA, OMA, W3C, ...

Nokia 6600 email client use standard IMAP over SSL port 993.
Only bad thing is that you cannot change it.

You have to byu 3.party softaware for that, (Widian get-mail for Symbian)
