Hi guys!
It's been few weeks since smartmovie has been released and i'm already wondering which are best settings to play smoothly in landscape mode clips!
I tried a lot of options (both for audio and video,reducing frame-rate,resolutions and depht), trying playing clips on siemens sx1 and nokia 6600.
I was not able to obtain a perfect smoothly playback but i noticed that encoding clips with 64kbs video and 8000hz 16kbs audio with a framerate around 15 fps is near my intention.
Is there anyone who was able to do this?
Any suggestions?

You can also try higher bitrate for audio and video,arround 80-96 kbs and its still fine.
I'm a little dissapointed in SmartMovie because it can't play high fps videos(24fps) smoothly like Mobiclip does.

I try it immediately even if i think 164k video is too high because of my 128 mmc!
.3gp movies played with phillips 3gp player and encoded with PV Author look the business, and uses industry standard 3gp files so it's easier if you want to share them..
Just my 2cents..
El Barto,just change the Video bitrate settings.Video->Compression->Configure->
willbrady,3gp is the industry standard for now.Mobiclip or more likely,regular divx can change that.There is another divx/xvid player in development,might even be freeware,should be released pretty soon.
BTW:The 3GP player is not standalone product and doesn't work on camera-less devices like the N-Gage.I'm not interested in sharing anything,i just posted these settings because i find them best suitable for my viewing pleasure.
El Barto,the settings i posted are fine for 29-30 fps movies so when the decimate frames by 2 options is used they are converted to 15 fps but if your source movies is a 24-25 fps movies the results are 12 fps movies which IMO is not acceptable.To correct this you can use the Video->Frame Rate->Converto to fps and insert 15.

I've already tried doing this,as i have all pal clips,but i obtained an a/v desynced file.
I also noticed a better smooth playback using smartvideo converter 2.0 and built-in xvid encoder instead that used by windows and virtual dub.

There is a Audio Preroll Time setting in the 2.0 player.It can do a good job in fixing audio desync.

It probably has but since the N-Gage and the 6600 have similar ammount of RAM available it won't make any difference.

Ummm What's weird that, someone in this fourm with 6620 has checked the RAM
with th FExplorer and it wrote him that the device has more then 22MB ...

Since the 6600 and 6620 are different devices,that is probably true.
I thought 6620 was just the American Version of 6600 ...

The 6620 is a different phone, that looks somewhat like a 6600, but is targeted for the same user segment, but USA only.
All of the things in the 6620 except EDGE network support are now in 7610 and 6670 for other markets.
i cant play any videos with smartmovie, it seems i need divx codec. anyone know where i can find a specific divx codec or a wmv3 codec (series9 encoding with pc sofware thingy)
i got 6260, dunno if thats compatible with avi / divx movies :|

7610 is mono 6620 is stereo
my 6600 has about 10 to 11 mb of ram left after start up it will prob depend on processing power aswell

Hey everytime i try converting a file it always gives me the message 'Cannot start conversion. Detailed error message; Unspecified error"
Installed all codecs and everything but still get the same error. The file im trying to convert is a .mpg.

The zip file provided by ghostdog with virtualdub settings has messed up my XviD codec settings..
I realized after a few hours this problem, soh I used his configuration file to catch virtualdub settings and then I had to reinstall XviD ..

Actually, sorry to be a pedantic bastard, but the 6620 has stereo audio output and a faster (150MHz) processor, both of which are significant features the 7610/6670 don't have 😉
And that's in addition to more system and user RAM.
