my 6600 has suddenly stopped telling me when i get a text. i get the noise and/or vibrate but it doesnt come up on the screen as "1 message received".
any ideas people?

Have you installed any 3. party programs?
Remove them and try again. If is not help you, update your phones firmaware in any Nokia service center
how does a third party app affects that?? i mean i also have some installed but the message always pops up !!
I had this problem when my phone stopped alerting me when messages came in.all it did was put a little envelope in the top right of the window. I took mine back to the shop i got it from and they fixed it. think its to do with the firmware.
