Hi all, i should be getting my P900 some time this week, what things should i do when i first get it? I have read alot about firmware upgrades so i guess the first thing would be that, what other tips/tricks does anyone have when a new fresh p900?

but a screen protector is my number 1 essential!
Yep, agree with above. Firmware, screenprotector, case. Try to figure out whether you prefer to use it with flip on or off (could affect your decision on which case).
Then you'll need either HandyDay or Tracker. Try both on trial and choose the one you prefer. For me, Advanced English Dictionary, Opera and WorldMate are the other three essentials.
Something like HandyDate or DateMate is also pretty useful as the synch software doesn't properly support repeating events like birthdays.
After that, it depends on what you want to use it for. If you plan on listening to music a lot then you'll need at least one 128MB MS-Duo. And you might want to check out Ogg Play or Unreal player.
Then you have QuickOffice, some games, an eBook reader and books, maybe some photo editing software, Instant Messaging, maintenance tools like SMan and contacts control......

screen protector...Martin Fields if you want a clear SP but if u want the paper like texture/anti glare go for a brando... and firm ware of course... don't install any apps yet experiment with the phone first...😃 but if u upgraded from p8 that should't be a prob..:d gud luck!
my personal view: if you have insurance, you don't need a screen protector
