For real or phony?

31 replies · 5,440 views · Started 09 March 2004

Seems 100% phony to me.

If you care about your money, don't buy from them. There's no way you'll get your money back.

And I think no one here has dealed with them seeing as they're site seems to have been online for a bit over 3 days.

Doesn't look that fishy to me. They are probably simply doing an arbitrage on world currency rates at the moment. buys a lot of $s at the moment.

I think it's phony these prices are really low and when i mean i mean low. I would love to buy those phones at those prices but theres gotta be a catch somewhere cos ive been to a lot of mobile phone sites and they all sell their sim free mobiles at very high prices. Unless some1 posts up on here that they have dealt with them and that theyre not phony, this site cant be trusted but thats from my point of view. Also why is it that the 6600 is being sold half price and not the 3650 why would you want to sell a better phone for cheaper?

Dont jump the gun everyone has to start somewhere!

All purchases from any company carry some risk and someone WILL buy from them!

You could also argue"Buy now before they run out"

The reason the "better"phone is cheaper is because they anticipate selling lots more of them (of course!) which will obviously push up their profits!

I am not suggesting that this company is ok but you shouldnt be so quick to suggest its not!😃

Although i would point out its a bit early to be quoting "Leading Mobile Communications Retailer"🙄

Yesterday when i first found the site there was at least a phone number(all be it a mobile) but now it seems to have gone.

When i rang it all i got was one of those stupid ali g answerphone messagges!

Went something like"Da owner of dis fone aint ere now innit, check me later unless you a batty boy, respect, aaiiiiii!"

mmm very professional!

Looking more phony by the minute.

does anyone know the phone number anymore?? The prices really seem to be too good to be true.

Sorry mate

I didn't make a note of the number assuming it would still be there the following day!

Let us know if anyone is brave enough to place an order.

Cheers

i took a risk and ordered a phone, delivery due today

guess what

Didn't come

No answer to any e-mails

Im f*****g p****d off

Anyone know how I should start going about gettin me money back. lol. I know I probably wont get it, but Ill try anything.

phill if u do a whois or dns info to the website u can get the company name of the website and u can tell em whats going on so they will take actions about it or if u r strong u can get the owner address and kick his ass up to u 😃

hmmmm, i already done the whois. Im assuming the address displayed is his address. So I may send a warning letter to it, saying if I dont receive a full refund I will contact the police etc.

I also have 2 of his AOL screennames. And his Natwest Bank Details, as I made a bank transfer to him.

I dont know whether to contact my bank (Natwest too) as im not sure what they could do.

Do what I did when I got ripped off like that.

Call the police, of course, as soon as possible!
Call the bank and inform them, if your lucky they can help you out.
Find out his phone number and call him and tell him that you want your money back in a very "lawyerish" tone (that's what I did). Tell him some fancy words.
If none of above works, call the newspaper. That's how I got my money back. A local newspaper got up to his front door and rang the bell, as he opened they took a picture of him just in time before he slammed the door. Needless to say; I got my money back.

hmmm, all sounds good. i dont know if this is a very big problem buy he lives in leeds and I live in cheshire, not exactly close to each other.

If I go to the police, should I just say. Hello I paid for some goods from an online website, and they weare never sent, the company wont respond, can you help me?

Thanks.

From Phill

hmmmm just had a look at kynet where his site was set up from.

Cost him 675.00 by the looks of it. Quite a lenth to go to for a con, but then again he would make it back in no time. I mean i paid 204.75.

If the phone aint here tomorrow and no response I will call the police and my bank.

I really do hope it isn't a con, but you do get suspicious when you dont get any replys ever from the real address, and Ive only ever had one once from his personal e-mail address which took me ages to track down, and now he wont respond to that.

And jusging by what other people on this board have said, it doesnt look too good does it!.

I hope to be able to give you good news soon.

Also when I bought the phone there was about 7,000 hits, thats now 40,000 just a few days later. So I cant be the only one who has bought one. If he is a scammer, and every 1 starts reporting him, he will be in very deep s**t

Wait a day, then report him and do everything you can.

If the police can't help you - take a drive to where he lives with a couple of friends and say you want your money back.

If it's a con then he probably used stolen credit cards to pay for the website. So his initial investment was ₤0.

yeh true. Im making a list of organisations I'm going to contact, which include...

Internet Fraud Complaint Centre
FBI Fraud Department
BBC Watchdog
Trading Standards
Nat-West Bank
Local Police
His Local Paper
His WebHost
Paypal and Nochex

any more I missed?

Should I send him an e-mail threatening unless I recieve a full refund within 24 hours I will contact these authorities. See if that does the trick. Then after contact them anyway!

Let me know

Threatening emails don't work for this kind of people. My opinion is that whoever did this has probably done it before, perhaps started out on ebay or other auction sites.

It isn't just a scammer.

I'll bet the whois address isn't his real address.
If you had any email correspondence with him check the headers of the email to see where the email orriginated from. That will probably be the most important piece of information you'll have as to how to actually track him down.

You can file complaints all over the place... I hope they'll help, though I much doubt it.

The only e-mail I have ever had from him...

Hello
we will dispatch phone tommorow expect it by thursday
thanks

Not very professional looking

Lol obviously a Runescape fan. I wouldn't get too excited until you have waitied at least a week over the proposed delivery date. The postal service is so diabolical in this country that you never know when things are going to arrive.

If you have his bank details then that is the most valuable information. Be patient and wait and if you still hear nothing then I would contact the Police alone and speak to your bank who made the transfer. They wil have a fraud department who made be able to help. The FBI and the local paper? Lol overkill i fear.

lol, yeh, anything to try and get my money though. I know the post has been diabolical before, but it has been extremely good lately, for me atleast. But you must admit not replying to atleast 12 e-mails now, sent to about 4 e-mail addresses seems very suspicious doesnt it.

I wouldn't wait another minute.
Go down to the police station and file a report.
Go down to your bank and see what they can do. If you used your card to pay through an online service file a report with that service and ask that you receive your money back (hopefully money hasn't yet been transferred to the thief... hopefully).

Though you probably agreed to some terms and conditions in which you expressly stated that you do not hold that company responsible.

Just don't wait.
It's not the Post that's at fault.

PS: I'm willing to bet that the AOL account was also paid for using a stolen credit card. More than 50% chances he used the same stolen credit card he used to pay for his website...

Mate, I'm really sorry.
I wish there was more I could help you except to wish you lots of luck... cause you'll need it to get your money back.

😞

MobileSim,

Could you please resolve this matter immediately, failure to respond may result in us having to de-activate your website.

Kind regards,

Jai
