Hi,
My Nokia3650 became very slowly lately... Opening Logs, Messaging, Calendar, etc. is way to long.
Anyway, I was thinking about restoring original settings in my phone. Some kind of reformatting the whole thing
* remove all software
* all settings
* all data
* everything!
I woule like to have it... like I did get it just after buying it - quick 😃
So it would have default settings. Fresh from the retailer 😉
Is there a way to do it?
I've heard holding "pencil" is restoring some original settings... but is it actually formatting everything?
And what about software which was installed on the Memory Card? Is it also erased?
Thanks in advance for help 😊

What will it do?
ALL of the things I want?!... 😊
Should I first format my memory card?
Just to be sure... after doing that I will have default applications, such as calendar, to2, etc.? 😉
and one more question...
do i need to copy/write down any specific information/settings before formatting my phone? such as info for GPRS connections, or my Phone Network?...
I just don't want the situation when after formatting I won't be able to make phone calls 😉 or something.......
Holding down the edit key (aka Pencil) while powering the phone on starts it up in safe mode. Memory resident programs wont be started.
i forgot my lock code. can u send me a code to fix my problem?
i tried to enter 12345 but not work it.
have a nice day...
By inputting *#7370#, you need the lock code. After pputting the lock code, your phone will restart. Your phone will take about 5 minutes to start, so dont get freaked out if its taking longer than usual to start. After doing it, you will notice that the phone is EXACTLY like the first day you bought it- if you are a T-Mobile/Cingular/AT&T customer, then you might be having the GPRS settings already in the phone (somebody clarify this?)-
1) Contacts, Messages (phone memory messages) will be erased and things like notes and calender entries and to do list and all other programs like these. So you should backup your contacts and messages.
2) Menu will set to the default -the style would be the same as the day u bought it
3) All ringing tones will be set to default - all downloaded/received from MMS/From PC ringing tones will be erased that were on the PHONE MEMORY - NOT THE RINGING TONES FROM BEFORE, LIKE INTRO,IN THE GROOVE,etc...
4) GPRS Settings - might be erased - but like I said the settings might be there.
5) NOTHING in your memory card will erased by doing this.
6) Yes, you will be able to make calls and receive calls - but you might want to change the ringing tone through Profiles
7) NO DEFAULT APPLICATIONS (Example - Calendar) WILL BE ERASED.
8) If you have installed any applications/games on the PHONE MEMORY, they WILL be deleted.
Note - My phone took about 3 minutes to start up after hard reseting (formatting by *#7370#) and it said 'Phone start-up failed. Contact retailer'. 😮 But on switching it on and off again discovered that the format had been successful - don't know how that happened! Anyway, if your phone displays a message 'PHone start-up failed. Contact Retailer' and on switching it on and off again you find that it isnt working properly, you can get the software reflashed at your nearest authorized Nokia dealer [it will cost you to reflash it].
Hope this was helpful.

In reformatting, does it erase some of the feature(s) of the phone like voice recorder? And does reformatting has negative effect(s) to your phone and might able to malfunction?
I heard it will completely clean the phone mem and that it will look good as new [yes]
I have a question though, nokia included the video recorder application with the phone...will that be erased too??[NO]
next question...after I backup all my images,wavs,midis, etc and finally reformatted the MMC (via phone) and phone itself ( via *#7370#), is the phone really good as new?[Not really, you are restoring it back to same state before you reformatted it] I heard some people even use a file manager to delete some other things left after reformat.[C:\[Phone memory] is reset, not E:\ (MMC Memory). You can get FExplorer from www.gosymbian.com [freeware] and load it on your phone to see what I mean](1)is there any negative effect of reformatting the n-gage by inputting this ---> *#7370# - look below
(2). does it erase the latest firmware [no]and some features like Stereo FM Radio?[if it is loaded from before, NO, but if YOU installed it, yes!, anyway never heard of a n-gage having a radio](3)is the process risky look at (4)
(4) is there a possibility that it might able to malfunction?[yes, My phone took about 3 minutes to start up after hard resetting (formatting by *#7370#) and it said 'Phone start-up failed. Contact retailer'[My phone is Nokia 3650, and both N-Gage and Nokia 3650 run under Symbian OS 6.2]. But on switching it on and off again discovered that the format had been successful - don't know how that happened![meaning it worked like a new phone] Anyway, if your phone displays a message 'Phone start-up failed. Contact Retailer' and on switching it on and off again you find that it isnt working properly, you can get the software reflashed at your nearest authorized Nokia dealer (it will cost you to reflash it)].
what is the proper way or steps in reformatting it?[dial *#7370# in standby mode, phone will ask you to restore original settings, enter lock code, phone will restart. It is advised you use a fully charged battery before doing this. Phone will take 3-5 mins (took me that time) and will ask you time and date if format is successful, if not itll display Phone start up failed. Contact retailer. To fix that, I have explained what to do if that happens in (4)]
