This refers to when playing MP3's, games, Midi's and the like through the loudspeaker.
Whenever i'm getting a call (ringtone), playing a game or listening to a song, high pitched noises make a horrible sound. Sometimes if I put it at a lower volume, it's not too bad, but it sort of negates the reason of having the MP3 and Midi ringtones, because they need to be loud so I can hear any incoming calls... I have friends with similar phones that use the same midi files, and they sound so much better on their phones.
I was wondering if I actually have blown the speaker, or if the speaker is just dodgy in the first place? If so, would this be covered by my warranty? I got the N-Gage new in a sealed box. I think it had all the warranty cards etc in there, do I send these off? (i'm in Australia)
I found it doesn't happen in the midi ringtones that are included with the system however, which makes me think it might just be the midi's I downloaded are too loud (or have too high pitch for the speaker to correctly use)
Any ideas?
It's a really scratchy sort of distorted sound. It even happens on lowest volumes on some Midi's...
And it turns out it does happen on some of the Nokia inbuilt ones as well, but not nearly as bad, and typically only at high volumes.
Sorry i'm not editing former posts, but it won't let me unless I register. Which i'll probably get around to doing one of these days.
No such experiences on the N-Gage I have. If the built-in sounds are, indeed, OK, but others don't, then you might want to find a MIDI/WAV editor to see what they look like & if something can be done to them. Those that don't sound too good, that is.
No problems here too.The N-Gage has one of the best loudspeakers i've ever heard.
no problems on my end. My N-gage speakers are pretty clear and i have one midi file that is very high pitched (aerith's theme from final fantasy 7 for calls and legend of zelda for alerts).

I also don't have any problems. loudspeakers are very good and clear I think.
Ok, i'm pretty sure that something's up with my N-gage
What should I do? Can I use the warranty? (I think I have one, I bought it boxed and sealed off E-bay.) or would one of the Nokia Service centers be able to help me out? There's some around here, but I don't know if they'd be expensive or not? (I live in Australia)
Thanks for the replies so far.
