Screen protector [PLEASE]!!

The 7650 is a great phone. The best part being the great looking LCD. BUT HEY!!! How do I make sure it keeps looking great ??

The guys at Nokia messed up on this one I guess. The default plastic film that comes with the phone lasted me a few days.. (Took a lot of scratches) AND NOW it is starting to peel off!!!...

I am trying to source the so called screen protector... But cant find it anywhere.... There was a seedy place (www.c2ocity.com) or something.. I dont know how safe that one was..

Can anybody help me on this ? :-? :-? :-?

A vinyl film should do the job.

Um.... you could use one of them screen protectors for the PDAs, just cut it down to size. There're loads of them available. You'd probably wanna get the clear ones, some of them are a little opaque (supposedly to make it feel like writing on paper, but since this is not a touch screen...)

so you mean to tell me that that material(plastic covering) that goes from the bottom two key buttons to the proximity sensor and light sensor
is actually just a screen protector?

So I can remove it??

I ask because its a lil scratched itself and hence makes the screen look at lil dodgey

So I can remove it and replace it with a vinyl film covering, or PDA protection cover?????

Well if you mean the plastic film thats got a silver tab on the top (next to the light sensor) then YES. That is the screen protector (and yes it is protecting the actual LCD screen from scratches)...

I suggest you dont remove it (otherwise your actual LCD's plastic window will get scratched).

I realised that I could cut something up to fit, but wouldnt the real thing be great ??

and When you say vinyl. How does that thingy stick to the phone (I dont want to try some kind of adhesive).. Maybe shellac or light oil ? (just guessing wildly)..

I mean the kind of vinyl film that stick on glass and plastic beacuse of electrostatic attraction.

Hmm lol, i don't know what you guys do, but i really use the 7650 for my job, private stuff and so on, so it's pretty heavy used, but the very first thing i do on every electronical device when i get is removing the DAMN vinyl shit from it. I got a lot of stuff having displays and so on but never scratched one. Jesus just take care where your stick it, lay it and so on and you will just have NO scratches 😊

i went to their shop in singapore yesterday. they told me have stock when i called them before going down but when i went there they said stocks only coming in on monday (26092002). wasted my time and money travelling all the way there but get nothing.
it is selling S$10.20 here. PDA screen protector i used before, sort of very fuzzy. not as clear as the original one which comes with the phone

ahh that silver thing part of the plastic film is it. well im glad thats the plastic part coz its like been lightly scratched or something and I was thinking it was the screen, well knowing that theres only one other problem I have with the phone

this damn buzing while on calls...........
once I solve that man, I might marry this phone lol :P

I bought the Palm-screen protectors of the company "M-LINE" (www.mline.at - they make handy-accessoires, dont know if they are present in other contries), and I have to say these are the best I know (I tried some others for my Palm m505) - u dont even recognize that there is something on the screen. Only difficult thing is to cut them to fit on the 7650-screen - i spoiled a couple until it was ok 😊

i bought the screen protector from c2ociti. actallu i bought from nokia care shop. they got the stock from c2ociti. It comes in two pieces insdie and the material is the same as those pda screen protector. the sizes of the screen protector is just fit enough to cover the LCD. After pasting the protecting sheet, my screen looks "snowy" because of the material. Still the origianl one is better clear and smooth surface.
I bought it at S$15.00at nokia care shop.

Hmm, mine costed 5 Euro (10 pieces) and they are not snowy at all ... much better than that one that was on the phone when I bought it.

I must agree with a previous poster.

Whenever I get a new device the first thing I do is peel off the plastic. I thought they were just there so that the phone did not get damaged in transit. Oh well...

S$10-15 is way too much to pay for two tiny pieces of plastic. For the same price i could get a set of 6 screen protectors for my m505, each of which could probably make at least two pieces of screen protector for the 7650. And with people's comments that it's not as clear, it really is not a good buy. Saw it at a shop at Wisma top floor while looking for a case for the phone.

After reading some of these posts I think I will drop the idea of the screen protector for the 7650, instead shall buy a Palm screen protector and (sigh!) 😞 cut it to size.

But meanwhile, I have asked my friend (who is visiting Singapore) to keep an eye out for some 7650 specific covers/protectors etc.

Will keep you guys updated. Cheerio.
