Which is the best bluetooth adapter for a P800 Guarantee to work under XP pro
Bluetooth Adapter
there are lots of them.
I'm using MSI PC2PC Bluetooth adapter which is working fine and never faced any problems after upgrading to the latest software, and it works on WinME, Win2K, and WinXP Pro!
Hi,
I am interested to hear how other people are getting on with syncing via Bluetooth..
I have the Amicom BT USB plugin, and can see a variety of COM ports in Device Manager including COM5 for Serial.
I try to get the Phone Connection Link Properties to accept COM5, but I get a variety of responses including the BT dialog coming up asking me to add the P800 as the COM port - but when I deselect the COM5 port, to the response that the COM port is in use by another application...
If anyone has any thoughts on this, or recommendations, it would be greatly appreciated.
I have my PocketPC syncing over 802.11, and to get the phone in a similar guise is my goal...
Cheers,

I have a D-Link USB dongle ( http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=43026) and it works fine.
as for synching, i don't. I was given my p800 second hand without a doc. Trying to synch via bt just made my PC freeze (no idea why, anyone?). Besides, I don't have outlook or anything on my home PC so there is little need. When I want to transfer files from pc to p800 i just drop it on my phone icon and all works well.
By any chance do you know what's the max connection speed when using the P800 as a modem thru the BT adapter?
I can only get 9.6 kbs, same goes when connecting to the usb cradle. If I am not mistaken the specs on the P800 says 28.8kbs is this true? and if so, how would i reach that speed.
Thanks for any info you may provide.

The modem on the P800 using a standard GSM (dialup) connection is 9.6. However, if you use a GPRS or HCSCD connection, it can go quicker. Which are you using?
Bluetooth shouldn't limit the speed as, in theory, it can sustain far more than 28.8
How can i tell which one am i using?
i'm taking a wild guess here since i can only go up to 9.6 i'll have to say GSM
How would i be able to setup the GPRS or HCSCD to connect to my laptop?
Thanks for your help.

When you connect, if you are using GSM there will be the usual Phone icon at the bottom of the screen (the same one you see during a phone call). If you're using GPRS, you'll see a globe flashing. Don't know about HCSCD as I don't use it.
To set up a GPRS connection you need to contact your service provider to ensure they offer it and that it is enabled on your account. Then they should be able to send you an auto-setup message that will create a new connection account with all the correct settings.
