GPRS on Vodafone - can't connect.

Morning all.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find the answer using the search facility.

My company switched on GPRS for us yesterday. I got the settings for GPRS and MMS texted to me from Vodafone and I have the little 'G' in place of the aerial icon in the main phone display but I still can't connect to the web or send mail via GPRS.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Cheers

The settings vodaphone sent by sms are incorrect (for 7650 i think)

If you search the forum for vodaphone gprs settings and enter these manually then it will work coz i had exactly the same problem! 😊

One other thing.....

do you know how to set the phone up so that e-mail comes automatically to the handset? I thought GPRS was meant to be 'always on'.

Cheers
Kav

GPRS can be (is) "always on", but the Messaging app's email function doesn't stay always connected (it & the email server it connects to would have to support at least the IMAP IDLE command, or it would have to have a timed polling feature, or the email server would have to support WAP push notification).

I don't know what your email server is, but the email function on the phone doesn't support either one of the other two features I mentioned.
