Message alert problem & others

I am having a problem with my message alert while my phone is on silent!

When the phone is on silent, the phone doesn't vibrate, and yess it is set to on!

Also I bought my phone from o2 and when is starts up, after the tone and the hands, it comes with a o2 Welcome screen. Is it possible to get rid of this?

And also is it possible to get rid of the o2 bubbles screensaver which appears before the time screensaver?

Thanks for any help!

I aqm on 02 but am having no problems like yours. i didn't have the screensaver or the 02 welcome bubbles, it must be a recent addition.
try changing your message tone to a different one i have the silent one that just vibrates with no tone

Upon further investigation i have noticed:

Message Alert Tone: Off
Vibrate: On
Gives
No vibration when SMS is recieved.

Message Alert Tone: <Insert Tone Here> On
Vibrate: On
Gives
Vibration & Tone when SMS is recieved.

This sort of defeats the purpose of being a silent profile doesn't it!

BTW I have v3.42.1

I wonder if I make a .mid file with no sounds in it, whether it will vibrate? Because it thinks there is a tone selected!

I will try when I get home and post the results if anyone's interested!

It'll certainly vibrate. I had a ringtone whose first 7 secs were silence 😃 And the phone did vibrate as it was 'playing' the silence 😃

It's not all that recent - my 6600 from O2 features those too. It was purchased 23rd December.

This subject has come up before and Ghostdog made a silent wav(so that it will still vibrate) for download search the forum for it instead of going to the trouble( i know its not hard but easier to search and DL)

😊

I made a midi file with 3 full rests at the start and it vibrates as it would "play" the rest!!

So success!!!!

You can insert any tone and it will be silent - its quite simple

tone =1
no tone = 2

if message alert = 1 then do nothing
if message alert = 2 then vibrate

some people want silent to be SILENT (including vibrate not on) for text messages but still want vibrate for phone calls (probably on the presumption that a text message wont be urgent but a phone call may well be important).
