Since Nokia could not get the 7650 to work with a bluethooth headset i presume this is a good alternative http://www.mobileplanet.com/private/jabra/product.asp?dept_id=1081&pf_id=MP800971&listing=1
Looks ok.
Anyway how come all nokia bluethooth enabled phones don't support voice dialling with the other manufacturers?
Looks like it will do the trick ... at $178 just a little on the expensive side.
when I contacted Nokia about connecting the 7650 to a bluetooth headset I was given the number of a service centre who told me that the phone needs a software upgrade for this to work
I don't really have any technical expertiese on this but I would hazzard a guess that it's due to the way nokia implements its voice dial/control activation. It's a press and hold, which i guess most of the headsets do not implement. They will just send one button press to the phone, which is the same as a short press on your wired headset.
For example, if you're using the ericsson headsets, a press and hold would turn off the headset instead of sending a long signal to the phone. The other headsets probably are not able to send a long signal to the phone too hence you can't activate the voice dial.
Just my 1 on this.
I just this minute got off the phone to Nokia in the UK and they say that the upgrade is just a rumour.
At the moment there is no upgrade to allow Bluetooth headsets. He even went as far to say that there was not even a planned upgrade at the moment but would not rule out the option of there being one.
don't know what nokia are playing at as they still don't have a bt headset out for their bt phones so whats the chances of bt headset for 7650?
