Car Kits??

Hi all!

Finally upgraded by trusty 7110 to a sparkling new 7650 but of course it doesn't fit into my Nokia full hands free car kit...

I spoke to both Nokia and Orange to see there is anything on the horizon - Orange didnt know and Nokia said I could use a bluetooth one! (Yeah - if the phone supported BT audio!)

ANyone know if there is one in the pipeline?? I'm SURE I've seen pictures of a Nokia cradle somehwere but I can't remember where! Also, do you think it will be a case of simply fitting a new cradle or a complete new kit??

Thanks in advance guys - I can't live without full hands free!

Dan

I'm in exactly the same position as you, having upgraded from a 7110/Cark91 kit.

Unfortunately theres nowhere on the phone for a car kit to plug in, the 3 contacts on the bottom are only for charging :(

Only hope is for nokia to provide a firmware update that supports bluetooth audio.(if that's possible)

Incidentally, if there was a proper connector on the bottom of the 7650 and a proper car kit you would still have to buy the whole thing as you would need the upgraded "hub" (the box that the speaker/mic/holder all plug in to). I know this as a cark-128 cradle (for 3310) does not work with the cark-91.

Hope I didn't get your hopes up too much when you saw there was a reply!!!! ;)

Um what about the one that plugs into the cigrette lighter that has a built in speaker and microphone. You'd have to still use the phone to dial and answer/end calls, and it won't cut off your radio/cd/tape deck. But it's relatively cheap (it was going for S$80ish) and works with almost all the phones.

At first (November 2001) Nokia, showed the all new 7650 and accessories on their site.

And at that time there was both carkit and BT headset among the accessories, but it sudently disappeared when they launched the phone.....

assholes

I was in Carphone warehouse yesterday and supposedly he said theres a firmware/software upgrade in the process to allow BT Audio.

God knows how true it is, but he did see i had a 7650 so it wasnt to selling tactic..
