Backlight keeps turing on

Hi

I've noticed a few times now that every now and then the backlight of my 6600 keeps lighting up, it is just on a table or something flat and then it lights up without anyone going near it or any message recived ect, i recently installed a torch app on it, could this be the cause?

Use the Task Manager (pressing the menu key for 3 secs) and see if you don't have any other apps running in the background. That could be it.

Maybe you have other apps installed.
Once that are hidden to the task manager application.
Try psiloc's task manager and see if you find any odd hidden tasks.

While i was installing psiloc's task manager the screen froze and i got a message saying sSaverDaemon App Closed, then i didn't get any responce from my phone at all. I get this message quiet alot actually any one know what it means?

I restarted it and tried installing again, this time it worked, but when i went into my menu the icon wasn't there, this has happend before with psiloc's irRemote and the torch app i mentioned before. In those two cases the icons appeared on my menu a couple of days later.

I used FeExplorer to find the task manaer app but when i tried to open it my screen just went blank for a couple of seconds then it returned to the FeExplorer screen. This sort of happens with the irRemote when i select it from the menu my screen goes to the screen of the app then back to my menu then the app again, and while i'm using it it does this aswell. Mabey a problem with psiloc's software.

Any thoughts? 😕

sSaverDaemon has got to have something with the screen saver. Did you install any screen saver software?

The task manager icon wasn't there cause it's not supposed to be there 😃
It replaces the Nokia default task manager so you have to push the menu button for a couple of secs (more than for the usual task manager), until it shows up.

(If it doesn't work do a phone restart as well)

I personally don't like Psiloc's task manager application and uninstalled the trial in no time but I hope it'll help you with your problems.

Also, I would check out AppMan from www.symbianware.com if I were you. It is very useful for removing trash files left from uninstalled/deleted applications which may have left some surprises behind just to annoy you.

Thanks, i do have a screen save app which is rubbish so ill remove that, and now i know how to use the new task manager thing, i can report that there is no other application on apart from my phone. So going back to the original point, why is this happening to my phone. I havent noticed it happening today, mabey it will just go away and leave me and my battery alone. 🙄

I had the same problem few weeks ago when I installed a different screen saver than the one provided from manufacturing. I removed it and the issue was fixed,

Cheers 😎

So that might have been it.

BTW, did you select the "show hidden tasks option"? 😃

And are you 100% sure you don't have trash files?...

I checked out that symbianware site and appman looks usefull but i'l wait and see if its fixed before i shell out 10 euros 🙄

I couldn't find the show hidden tasks option

What do you mean by trash files?

Turn on the task manager and it's there somewhere. Sorry... I'm sort of inebriated... that is drunk... right now .

Trash files are files left behind in X:\System\Apps\AppnameorID and other folders by uninstalled apps or by deleted apps.

They sometimes still start up proggies.
I had such a problem (I dunno from what stupid trial software I'd deleted when I formatted my MMC w/o uninstalling the apps first) and it kept starting a stupid part of an app up and it would be draining my battery like crazy (I'd go through 1 charge a day).
