I have the same problem and next problem is, that I can't read MMC in reader. Reader says: "No disk". Is any solution?

Ismail: It worked for me and I think I have the lousiest card reader ever. It's an ECS that comes with some motherboards...
puffler: Have you ever read any other cards with that reader? I'm saying this again: some card readers require that software be installed before they recognize some/all types of cards. Mine does.

I think card reader cannot format the MMC locked by password. In this case, Ghostmars try to search on phone memory a file named "mmcstore". This file contains the password for MMC. Copy this file "mmcstore" to PC, rename it to mmcstore.txt for viewing in Notepad. You'll see the password there.

cant you format the mmc card in the 6600. is that possible in any way ?

Extras\Memory\Options\Format mem. card

Make sure ur 6600 has sufficient charge for this operations, of course.

How do I seach for "mmcstore" at the phone without using bt-adapter?

Maybe this will help:

When you lock the MMC in Nokia 6600 there is a file inside the phone that store the password of MMC.
Use seleq programme go to c:\system of NOKIA 6600 and there you will find a file called MMCSTORE. Send this file to your pc via irda or bluetooth and rename it to MMCSTORE.TXT. Open it with a text editor and you will see the Password.

But if I dont have ir or bt-adapter? Then I can't send the program to the phone, or send MMCSTORE back to the computer?

What if ur using now a diff fone aside from the orig phone that u use to make the pw for the mmc? How can u fix that? Will SeleQ or mmcstore can be used?

and i dont know what that means, when i used the FExplorer to open the file on the mobile i got also:

F.H.(.'.1.

so please tell me what password can be retrived from this .. ?!!!

yaar my cell phone memory card is locked and i have format my cell phone
nokia 6600 so i can not access my card i don't know my password & my cell phone
mains my phone memory is format all the clear so my memory card is locked

3 days ago my card just prompted me for a mmc (SanDisk card) password--which I'd never set!

I did an online search & found that many people, particularly nokia symbian users are experiencing this problem.

Most people online advise that you download some program; set the remote lock;or format your mmc (yikes!!)

I tried the 1st 2 suggestions, without success. Formatting the mmc is a big no! no! for most of us!

So what did I do now?

On my Nokia E50:

1)Go to MENU-->then SETTINGS.
2)go to SECURITY---> then PHONE & SIM.

This is the key to it guys (at least it worked for me!):

3)on "Pin code request", mark the option as "OFF"
--in other words, no matter what phone you are using, you should note have a pin code for starting the phone 😉

[But then because I was not sure what I was doing, I just turned off all the codes & marked the "Lock if SIM changed" & "Allow Remote Lock" as "NO". - But I don't think that's necessary..but I did it anyway.]

4) Final step is to SWITCH OFF your phone.
5) Now switch it on again.

--The phone will no longer request a pin code.
But if you have set a lock code, it will request that--which you know😊

BINGO!! All the stuff you stored in your mmc is there now😊

SO please, don't format your cards people!
