O2 Email Settings - at last!

1 replies · 24,927 views · Started 29 March 2004

I have been struggling to connect to email accounts using my 6600 on an O2 contract. After waiting for 45 minutes I finally got through to O2 Customer Services who gave me the following settings which work perfectly.

Internet Access Point
Name: O2 mobile web
Data Bearer: GPRS
Access Point: mobile.o2.co.uk
User Name: web
Prompt: no
Password: password (ie the word 'password', NOT your email password)
Authentication: normal
Home page: none

Advanced Settings
Phone IP address: auto
Primary Server: 193.113.200.200
Secondary Server: 193.113.200.201
Proxy: none
Proxy Port: 8080

Mailbox
Name: O2 email GPRS
Access Point: O2 mobile web
email address: (your email address)
Outgoing Server: smtp.o2.co.uk
Send: Immediately
Send Copy: no
Include Signiture: no
User Name: (your user name)
Password: (your email password)
Incoming Server: pop.freeserve.com (for freeserve customers only, other customers will have to find out their own incoming server)
Mailbox Type: pop3
Security: off
Apop Secure Login: off

These settings worked for me even though I also have installed settings MMS & a GPRS web connection (contrary to what some people believe).
Hope they are useful to you
................ now if only I could get Avantgo installed properly................

I've finally managed to get Avantgo working but I can't honestly say how I did it. I'm on about the 5th install and whilst it is getting more stable, it's still flakey.

It works much better over GPRS than dial-up. Do a search for 'Avantgo, in this forum and you should turn up a useful thread someone put up very recently (about 2 weeks ago)

Cheers
