Another brief preview, another person not feeling it:
But when I finally had one in my hands, I just didn't get the same feeling. It somehow didn't feel right to me. Didn't elicit the smiles that the 7650 and other devices do. For what it is worth, Sid feels mostly the same way. It just doesn't seem impressive in person.

The movie that was posted the other week made the user interface seem a bit sluggish - I didn't expect to see screen redraw - but to be fair I don't know what other Series 60 devices are like.
Well everyone I've shown the SendoX to (I had an alpha version during Feb) positivly loved the phone. Admittedly they were all non-smartphoen users (but were self confessd geeks and tech head) so I think the styling 'for the regular user' is pretty good.
SendoX is the first smartphone that looks like a regular phone. And for that, all credit to Sendo.
Well, I'm pleased to hear it. I want it to be a great phone and a commercial success. I've been wrestling with the smartphone/regular phone choice for a while now, and this still seems like a great compromise.
A positive Infosync review would swing it for me, otherwise I'll wait until I've held one.
i dont like all this talk about the X feeling cheap, and not being impressive. and the UI being slow! come on Sendo, i thought this was what you were spending the extra time sorting out!! 😞
The UI could have been runing slow if they were running debug/logging software on the back end, which could hit performance by up to 40-50%

AAS Sendo X preview
With all due respect, etc., I would value an Infosync review even more highly than one of your own because:
- I've seen enough Infosync reviews to get a feel for J�rgen's slant,
- their site is not Symbian-specific, which for me gives slightly more objectivity,
- they haven't been down the pub with the Sendo guys.

Nope, all very good reasons, and understood. Although be aware when Rafe and I saw the Sendo X in depth at another pub (than the AAS Meet), I seem to recall J�rgen sitting next to us getting the same preview... 😊
Scarily, I'd still choose an N-Gage over a Sendo X, but having laid hands on all the Series 60 phones, a fair few Palm/Treo machines, and the MS phones, I'd still put the Sendo as the top 'average user' smartphone... assuming it actually comes out.

is the X better than the 6600 then? ive had a look at this phone, and while i liked it, it didnt seem to really do anything (for me) that my sl55 cant do. im after really good shortcut abilities and top end organiser. not too bothered about a camera, but the 65k screen and bangin sounds is nice.
was the X slow to react to key presses then?

That's interesting. I value the phone form factor too much - I'm still a happy 6210 user, although I'm missing BlueTooth and all the smartphone goodness people have come to expect.

Thanks, but that's the article that helped to get me interested in the first place. It's interesting the way J�rgen describes the venue as the 'Imagination Gallery'...

Uh, Uh - MPx100 is the first smartphone that looks like a "regular" phone. Notice that I put quotes around the regular... a regular phone in a lot of countries is a "flip" style.
After the last test results I found, I would be surprised if they released the SendoX as is... and maybe by the time they polish it up it will be old technology. We'll all just have to see..... I wish them the best because competition drives better products to better prices and we could all use that.
The X was announced last October - in what way was the MPx100 first? On the assumption that neither is available yet, this is the only sensible criterion.
Kevin Lawless, Sendo's Director of Marketing, is quoted on infoSync as saying that the launch will be in "weeks, not months". This sets an upper limit of mid-July - not exactly a great comfort, but better than nothing.
