Hi Folks,
I received my A925 on Wednesday and have been playing with it since! I really like it, its a very nice phone indeed.
I have been using my phone on a PC I have access to, so for now there are three bits of software that are missing under OS X:
* Syncing Software
* A925 "Drive Access" Software
* Modem Software
Basically, nothing works under OS X 😊 I have also read in forums that VirtualPC doesn't work with the Motorola software, so if we want any sort of support we are going to have to do it ourselves.
I have tried duplicating and editing the iSync XML files like the Nokia 6600 users have done, but haven't been able to get anything working under iSync. I also hope that Apple will eventually get this working, so I might leave this for the time being.
I figure that the most important thing for me is the A925 "Drive Access" Software, as I want to use my A925 as an MP3 player - so I thought I would have a go at this first. I am hoping to write software much the same as the Windows version, but for now only supporting USB, i.e. when you plug the phone in, an A925 will appear on the desktop, opening it will use the normal Finder interface and will show two drives or folders, one for the internal memory the other for the MMC/SD card.
Any thoughts/comments?
ive got the a920 here in austria with 3 working as modem.
after connected to my mac the phone is recognized as modem within the systempreferences. on an italian site ive found a modem script for the a835 and after a reboot and its possible to use the a920 as a modem. it worked with the gprs account settings.
for the other issues i've also not found a solution. perhaps we have to code something ourselfs. however i was not able to find information about the way interfacing the a920. even nothing about this in the symbian devzone.

after you have connected the a920 to your mac you open your system preferences - network. at this time it should say something like "new modem device found". then you could install the modem script.
after a restart you reopen the network preferences select the a920 and then you could set up a ppp connection (look at your providers manual for the login details). under modem you select the a835 from the list. and then you got it. simply connect.
thats it

3 here in denmark won't help me with the login details.
I have the script, installed it properly. Network pref find a router address (10.112.112.112) and the phone even tries to connect but then fails. I don't know what I should put in as phone number, account name (probably same as 3mail, right), password (again same as 3mail?), IP address and DNS server.
I need some clues here, please.
Hi there!
I too am a Mac user (OSX) and I have had my A925 for 1 week now.
I managed to pair the iMac to my A925 but couldn't do anything else! I have been transferring my addresses over from my Nokia 6600 using bluetooth but found that after sending a few over it stopped & I had to reset my A925 and start again - a long laborious task!!! 😡
As for sending movies over to my iMac - well forget it! Anyone else had these problems?
Am taking it back to my supplier as I think there may be something wrong with the bluetooth on the motorola.
BTW - anyone got any ideas about backing up the names & addresses to a memory card from the internal drive of the phone?
Cheers,
Kevin
I've finally managed to connect the mobile modem to my mac. I've posted a little how to here:

I don't have any problems with sending data via bluetooth on my updated A920. But if you have problems you might wanna consider to buy a card reader, they're not so expenssive.
But Bluetooth is SO convenient: just press command-shift-b and the file is on its way.

Hi,
I have managed to get the Motorola Software to work under VPC 6 with Win2000 Pro. (Just got VPC 7 with WinXP home, so I will give it a go soon.)
The thing is, it doesn't automatically see it.
You have to go to the "Communication port" settings in VPC and select the device (it shows up as a modem) in either Comm Port 1 or 2 (depending on which you want to use) Then you go to the sync symbol on the bottom right of the screen (next to the time), choose preferences and then select the Com Port you enabled. Once you have selected this, the phone is seen and can be syncronised with the software.
I too am waiting for OSX support with iSync. There seems to be some people that are working on making software for OSX.
I applaud you all!! I just wish I had the knowledge in programming to help.
Cheers.
