Hi,
Finally got round to passing my driving test few days ago. After the small matter of buying a car, I'd like a bluetooth headset so I can keep my hands on the wheel.
My question relates to the Jabra headsets, which seem to be well recommended on these forums. When the phone rings, will it answer it automatically? Or can it perform voice-commands (eg "answer call"😉? How do others use it whilst driving?
Rgds

They are superb,i use a bt200 & i'm very happy with it.
You have to use the multifunction button answer calls(very easy) & you can voice dial,i think i've got 10 preset numbers but again you have to press the multifunction button first.
All in all very snug fit and good price about 39.95 now
Hope this helps
Cool. So exactly how does the multi-function button work? Easy to "find"?
Will
yes, easy to find - you call also set your phone to auto answer too.
It will ring in the earpiece 3 times and then automatically answer it - and when the other end hangs up the headset hangs up and goes back to idle.
So you don't have to press the button at all to receive calls, and a sigle press of the button to make a call, assuming you have your voice tags set,.
It also detects when you put it in it's cradle and it automatically disconnects from the phone and turns itself off, and when you take it out it automatically turns itself on and connects to the phone (and on the Jabra 250 it will then also initiate your voice tag command)
Jabra headsets a good, comfortable, loud, nice easy to press buttons - all three things the nokia one has NOT got..

Sounds fantastic - have ordered one from The Great Mighty Amazon.co.uk
Thanks Will,

Watch out with the Jabra BT200/BT250, as the battery life on them is very short. The most I got with mine was about 5 hours, with no talk time on it. The problem is that unlike phones that support headset and handsfree profiles, the 6600 only supports handsfree, so this means that the headset and phone stay conected all the time, and so battery life is cut down dramaticaly. This is a problem both Nokia and Jabra are aware of, but neither are doing anything about. When used with a T68i or P800, I got 2-3 days use out of the same headset. I have tried three different headset with the 6600 all BT200's and got the same results. I have had the phone checked, with no problems found with it. It was then that I contacted both Nokia and Jabra, and got the we blame the other attitude. I tried the headset with an N-gage and got similar times with it as well. So if you are planning on using it for car journeys, then you may find like me, that after a couple of hours, the headset is bleeping to say it is going flat.
Thats not the headset fault, nor the profile.
There is a BUG in the 6600 firmware that keeps the connection open and basically gives you 'talk time' battery life instead of 'standby time'
It's the same on all BT headsets at present I think.
Nokia has aknowledged the bug and I guess will include a fix on the next firmware.
There is a workaround for this on the Jabra help pages.

Apparently Nokia has not fixed this bug yet, as of the latest firmware release :frown: :icon13:
I am using BT200 with my NK6600 and it gives 5 hours without any talktime too. Just a standby "active connection"

Could you please post a link to the mentioned help pages on the Jabra site? So far I've not been able to find something that looks like a workaround... :frown:

You can use your phone or the earpiece to do all commands. I like this unit I just got the freespeak 250 and I can wear it for hours..I can wear it while babysitting at a playground if that means anything to you. It's snug and it doesn't come off. My biggest complaint is that they give you a ton of gels for your ears and they didn't think to pad the backside w/ gel. The best thing you can do is try for fit. The plantronics seems nice and you have to look at the folding bodyglove one (esp if your favorite color is blue). As for battery life, I'm supposed to gget 8 hours talk, 240 standby. I've never even reached that w/o taking a shower or bath and then I just slip it back in the cradle, but it seems to charge instantly (as in 3 minutes or something after all day wear). I have no idea what's up w/ the handsfree audio gateway being the only supported profile and I never tried pairing the other way (did anyone?) I think all you lose is call waiting/hold on the earpiece if you use gateway instead of headset or something.
Anyways, as far as the headset goes, it's great w/ 110,240 50/60hz adapter. Cradle could use a bit of work, but it's worth it.
One thing I get is when I pull it out of the cradle and it connects it automatically starts to ask for a voicetag so I have to hit the MF button to kill it.
Now.....has anyone seen software that reads the voicetag back to you as CID when someone in your phonebook calls? Or is there a setting for this...b/c if there isn't there really should be.
