Hi,

It was me who deleted the post because it contained links to illegal copies of software. It was nothing personal and if you (guest) had registered, I would have e-mailed you to let you know why the post was deleted (as indeed is the latest post containing the links).

If we want the developers to support this site, we can't be giving away illegal copies of their software now can we!?

Know what I mean? Get my drift? That's just the way it is.

😊

PS. I am intrigued by Pichu's avatar. What is it?

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!

I was just gonna ask about cracks!!

Yo if anyone has cracks, 8) tell me!! 😃

I'm an outlaw, and its legal in my country 😃

Mail me dude!!!

btw are there any site that have the cracks for 7650 software

>_<

Where? alt.celular.nokia? Not exactly jumping with 7650 topics.

Besides, unless you're going to be a complete muppet and just post spam like a school kid, what's the problem with registering?

ER6 and My-Communicator are the most active forums for us 7650 owners.

Kudos to the owners of both sites for producing such a worthwhile resource and community. 😃

Hey I love the site and will register as soon as I buy a 7650 (soon)!

Hey, It's free to register you don't need to own a Symbian device. Heck, the owner of the site hasn't got one (yet)!

Cmon Pichu we all know that your avatar is the Pilsbury Do Boy !

Or am i just showing my age ! 😉

Yes fircing people to regiser is being thought about and if abuse becomes a problem it will be implemented, but for now I'm leaving it as it is. Some forums may go members only thought (like the community waffle one)...

But if people think it should be different let me know, I'm more than willing to accomodate any suggestions.

Oh and thanks for the compliments about the site. Makes me feel much better (still feeling ill 😞 ).

Rafe
who has been updating the software directory...

Hey I dont mean to knock this site, I mean I come here everyday now

But whats the My-Communicator site, if you wouldnt mind?

It wouldnt hurt to been in two forums, just means double the threads to read 😊

I don't think you should shut out the guest posts. I have found many an answer to a problem solved by a guest response...a guest who may not have bothered if they had to register. I know its quick to register etc but don't ever underestimate the lazyness of your average forum reader.

As a veteran (I think I can say that) of a great many online communities I believe that having faceless guests is a waste of time. There is a lot to this issue - on the one hand is the need to make it easy for people to register and put their stuff in, otoh, people should have a verifiable identity of some sort ... by that I mean, people should be able to be represented by any pseudonym they like, but you shouldn't have the possibility of having 2 identities (otherwise all sorts of shit happens over time). Also, by verifiable identities you want to have the ability to exclude someone if they become a real problem (inciting flame wars, becoming overly abusive, all sorts of nasty behaviours will pop up over time) ... so you should have a mechanism that validates an individual against their email address (and many sites dont allow anonymous email addresses such as yahoo or Hotmail).

With verfiable identities and lots of interaction it also usually becomes a lot more valuable as people start to build a reputaiton and an online perosnality (you can see that happening here already).

My 2p worth.

Its at http://www.my-communicator.com/ and very good it is too. I'm all in favour of people visiting as many Symbian related sites as they like. If they prefer others that's great too - after all we this site won't be to the liking of everyone..

I visit both my-communicator (occassionally) and more reguarly aikon.ch (http://www.aikon.ch) which is a german site dealing in the 9210 and the 7650.

I would say I find the community here the most friendly (though if your German aikon is your best bet)!

Your absolutely right. As soon as we start having problem its likely that the switch would be thrown (either permanently or temporairly), but for now things seem OK. The moderators tend to catch most things and if you think they don't or see something they have missed please feel free to PM me or any of the Mods - I hope that the 'leadership' of this site is general accessible to everyone.

There's also more logging going on that you realise - everyone who posts has their IP revealed (only available to the admins). So of there was a real problem it could be traced. I know there are ways round this, but if someone is bothering to get round this there's not a lot I could do to stop them...

My 2p worth.

Yes I agree, its nice to see some people getting their worth respected and seen. Thats partly why the ranking system exists - people can see what level they are at. At the same time some of most useful posts and informative ones come from Guest who can if they wish use their name.

and this is my 2p worth 😉

/me looks at the pitchfork and the torch, and decides to save them for another day.

It seems we are getting a *lot* more guests now than before, I hardly remember any from back when I first signed up. I also can't see people going elsewhere because they can't be bothered to register as the reason I'm here with over 800 posts is because I can't find anywhere better either as usenet or web forums. This site has a solid community and I think it's worth being a part of.

Some of you may know the Neowin community(www.neowin.net - temp down)

they were a very large primarily windows community, 12,000 + members. They disabled guest access to be able to write posts, and there member rate actually went up

im sure your probably not too worried about statistics and member numbers, however it proved that more ppl were signing up to continue to use the forums etc.

Something to think about I guess.

Precisely the point - if people want to post then going through a simple regn process is not too arduous. At the end of the day people come because they get value and having an identity (psedonym) is just part of the turf in most communities.
