Ok guys, here is a way to have ETI Camcorder play ok (video+sound) for N6600:
1) Install ETI Pro which you can find it easily on the Internet (trial version or purchased)
2) Upgrade your Nokia with the firmware 4.09.1 version . (I don't know for other countries, but it has arrived in Greece and it fixes lots of probs). For more details see other threads.
3) Now turn ETI's sound ON and...JUST RECORD! Voila...
It records and plays back WITH SOUND !
The only drawback remains the full screen playback with the jerky f.p.s (<10 fps). One solution would be a smaller playback screen for better f.p.s (smth like the standard camcorder of the N6600) or the 15 f.p.s...There is a rumour that a new version of ETI for N6600 is going to hit the market soon..
Cheers !

john74,you are walking on thin ice here.I removed your ban,but the next time you post similar hints in the forum or use the PM system to exchange warez you will be banned, this time it will be permanent.
Eti works on v4.09.1 but the quality is crap

I agree  .Better than nothing though....<I hope someday a GOOD video recorder app will show up!>
It'll probably show up with the next mobile phone releases and it'll be made by Nokia itself 😃
The 7610 seems to be very promising. (10 min recording time)
REALIS,Every other Series 60 camera phone(3650,3660,7650) can record without limits using Philips Camcorder Pro.The SX1 has a built in video recorder which is also unlimited.

Maybe Philips Camcorder Pro for Nokia 6600 would be a solution... 🙄
Haris has a good idea there 😃
GhostDog: I'm really not happy with Nokia's policy. They're making their phones somehow limited, always. I understand the fact that this is so they can sell their other phones but I am really into buying a phone that does it all.
I'm one of those people that love to go out of the house with a music player, video recorder, camera, pda, portable harddrive and radio. And a few other things I can't remember. And I'd really love for all these to be in one single item for which I would be willing to pay the hefty price tag it would have.
I have read on this forum about problems and issues w/the P900 (I was planning on 'upgrading' to one)...
We all have yet to see the 'magical' Sendo X that has yet to be market ready.
There's something rotten in Denmark.
I find the p900 to be the best compromise between a PDA and a Phone.Series 60 devices have some PDA-ish quirks but that is all.I was going for a p900 my self untill the 9500 was announced so i'm going to get an N-Gage probably or if i can find some cheap SX1 until the 9500 is released.
The P900 seems nice and all (included mp3 player, unlimited video recording) but then again it too is limited. SonyEricsson could've gone for Memory Stick Duo Pro but instead everybody's still limited to Memory Stick Duo maximum size of 128MB. There is a thread on the P900 forum related to why a P900 just isn't worth it...
A brand new P900 from the store that is 5 mins away from where I live costs $860. It's just not worth it 😞
The 9500 seems great but let us remember that it is a business phone hence, since all businesspeople supposedly speak in a mono-tonous voice 😃 they also have to hear everything in mono, even though a camera is finally going to be included. I doubt recording limitations will be removed.
Nokia is finally upping the limitation to 10 mins on the 7610 because of it's 1 megapixel camera. And they're finally including some sort of picture management software. I do wonder what that Lifeblog thingie is going to be like.
Probably very similar to the Adobe product that gets shipped with P900s.
So the 9500 doesn't really do it for me.
I really hate having to make do with a mobile phone that is less than what I want.
The 7700 seems to be a bit more interesting but it will be a "media device"... not so much a phone. I can't wait to have a look at it; I'm wondering if by the words "media device" Nokia realizes that it's supposed to record as much media as users have space available?...
The 9500 will have stereo output and will probably have unlimited video recording since its only a software issue but this is not the right forum for this subject.Check the 9500 furum.
The only reason why 6600 doesn't support unlimited video recording because it was rushed and shipped unstable.Like i said all other S60 devices support it using either ETI Camcorder,Philips Camcorder or the built-in software.
BTW:As for the p900 not being worth it,i think that is a bad choice of words, too expensive maybe.I can live with a 128 MB MS DUO.
arent we getting slightly off topic here lads???phone comparisons are somewhere else, right?
Thanks for the directions, GhostDog. Point taken about my choice of words.
Indeed we were, john74. My bad. But please keep yer pants where they should be.
Courteously yours 😃

I don't think that the 1 Mpixel camera has anything to do with the video limitation. That is the resolution for the camera NOT the recorder it self. In technological level technicians are far from creating a small, flexible, high resolution camera for mobile phones. Besides the resolution of the video (7610) remains-as in 6600-to 174X144 pixels:
Video Recorder (7610)
Resolution: 128 x 96 or 174 x 144 pixels (Sub QCIF or QCIF)
Time: Up to 10 minutes
4x digital zoom
Viewing formats: 3GPP, MPEG-4, H.263, Real Video
Nokia just doesn't want to enhance phone's video capabilities. There will always be app though, who will do it....
😎

Nokia probably want to "milk" their technologies over another 5 generations/releases of phones....
Haris: I think it does but not in terms of technology. In terms of marketing it makes lots of sense to me: "Here, we're giving you this great phone that can take better pictures and w/which you can record up to 10 minutes of video".
Sounds like a "feature" to me 😃
Vamp: You're so right! I feel the same, and it's a very discomforting feeling.
I don't think unlimited video recording or recording for that matter is a feature at least not in a device running open OS like Symbian.Remember the 7650 and HantroCP?None of the Series 60 Nokia devices did support unlimited video recording out of the box.

The 7650 need to limit recording size because there is not enough memory. In fact, video recording was not part of the out-of-the-box features (ie. optional d/l from Nokia website). As it was, my previous 7650 was dying due to the limited memory in its later months even without video recordings.... :frown:
Another reason for the constraint was due to the max file size a MMS could sent with. But softwares should still allow us to record more nevertheless, especially for moments we are not sending via MMS.
With the 6600 and other newer Symbian 60 phones, video recordings could be saved directly to MMC, thus removing the memory/storage problem. 😊
Vamp, you didn't get my point.I pointed out the 7650 as an example just because like i said, unlimited video recording or video recording for that matter is not a feature in an open OS like Symbian.BTW:The video recording software was released long time(6 months) before it was officialy hosted on Nokias website and it was developed by a third party company called Hantro. The 7650 can record unlimited using either ETI Camcorder,HipCam or Philips Camcorder.

A lot older Symbian phones like the 3650 can record unlimited and save video on the memory card.
PVcamcorder is supplied with the SX1, i copied all the files from the rom drive of the SX1, and the libs (dlls & stuff),then onto my 6600. the app shows on my menu, but i stillcannot get it to run, it starts up, then exits,, no error meseges.. if anyone has some experience with such issues, i will forward the files to him/her so they can do some testing...
Forwarding the files would be illegal.
hmmmm, this is tricky 😊
OK, i will point to them where on the net to find such files....... hope i passed that legal exam now 😊
we all apreciate what you are doing here GhostDog, & we know that all your efforts go towards keeping this forum open & running...... but sometimes we make typos 😉 so cut us some slack buddy...
Thank you for your contineous moderation of this forum.
Like i said, distributing the files would be illegal, you can't do use AAS's services like PM or E-mail to do it,if you get cought, you get banned.
You can do whatever you want off site AAS.
