Is this N-Gage 2?

The first picture of what purports to be N-Gage 2 (or whatever it's going to be called) have started appearing on the web. From a quick glance the keys have be reorganised a bit resulting in a device smaller than the size of the original. It also looks to be sporting Series 60 2.0.

The whole impression is of a much more sleek unit and it looks good to us.

The MMC seems to go in a slot on the bottom of the device (there's a flap with a picture of an MMC visible on the back of the unit).

Note that despite the screenshot visible there is no camera visible on the back of the unit. Although as someone just pointed out to us it's just possible it is hiding under the piece of tape top right back.

There also seems to be an extra key with a tick on it. Our guess would be that this take you direct to the game that you have inserted (rather than having to go through the standard Series 60 menus).

They Radio and Music keys also seem to have moved to the top of the 2 and bottom of the 0 key respectively.

As with all such pictures there's no way to be sure if this is for real or not.

We'll have to wait till id next week to see if this really is N-Gage 2. We'llbe bringing you a report from the official Nokia event.

WHOAH! N-Gage that actually looks cool and doesn't sport side talkin'? What's going on?

Seriously? I think it looks absolutely horrible! The original N-Gage looks way more stylish and slim to me...

I think it looks nice! I also think there is a camera in the device, since the screenshot clearly shows the word "camera". And did you see the mic or speaker in the top-right corner. Maybe you can make a "normal" phonecall with this phone (not the strange n-gage 1 way)

No camera.

Btw....where's the USB connector..?? I cant find it from these pics...Or is it removed..? 😞(

Nice, but without a camera, I ain't buying it -- it doesn't seem much of an improvement over N1 -- sure, a little easier to change things in and out, but if it really doesn't have any ADDED features -- it's just version 2 of a draft in my opinion -- a camera and game playing device would be ideal -- I'd even pay for it. No camera, no go...

And apparently it doensn't have mp3 either (and rumours go that it doesn't even have fm radio). Wouldn't be much of an upgrade, now would it... 🙄

Nope, more like a major downgrade. It doesn't even appear to have USB connectivity. All you get is a slightly improved screen and a new toyish, bulky look.

As for mobile phone cameras, I don't get what the big fuzz is about. Pictures look cr@p no matter what. It's not even fun anymore. I admit it was a bit exiting when they first appeared (Ericsson T68m with MCA-20), but the novelty is long gone and the cams haven't really improved much since then.

- :Looks like its still Symbian OS 6.1 and Series60 1.0, and it still has 4MB phone memory. No more FM Radio, no more USB and no more MP3 player.

+ :Hotswappable MMC's, no more sidetalking, smaller, autostart games and 16bit screen.

They want to keep the price of the device as low as possible when you look at this, it's a difficult choice for current N-Gage owners. They have to choose if the extra features are important (N-Gage) or the gaming experience (N-Gage QD).
